WARNING WARNING WARNING: This is a talkie video and lots of waffle, it covers some important personal issues that we may all suffer from and how I deal with them, and why I need to get outside under the stars from time to time.

I think you are absolutely correct about getting outside, sitting by a fire, looking at the stars. It's unnatural to spend 24/7 inside. in my opinion.

Just organising an over night hammocking trip when your video popped up. The weather has been so poor I've not managed to escape into the out doors over night for ages. That snow looked lovely Maff.

A real treat to be in the snow loved it hope you managed to get out mate.

I think what you said about why we need to get out is close to what you said. We all live unnatural lives, not at all what the 600,000 years trained us for, whether it's pressing buttons on a machine or keyboard or some other work, it is essential for the way the world lives, but not natural for us as individuals. Personally I don't think I could do the wild camp part any more, but I do love being out in my tent on a farm camp site, specially out of season when it is quiet and I really don't mind wind/rain/snow when I'm cosy in my tent in fact I think that is a special kind of cosy that we don't get anywhere else.

Happy New Year big guy and the message you're putting across is perfectly summed up by saying "In the outdoors you're working to live...not living to work!". Philosophical Sam strikes again. PMSL [EDIT] Forgot to give an "honourable mention" to that rusty old piece of corrugated iron...it's really done you proud a few times as a windbreak/fire reflector...Kudos to the corrugated iron.

A marvellous watch and listen Matt. 8.4% is a good starting point 👀😁. I subscribe 100% to your theory. Nature for me is the "antidote" to the "real" world and a night out under a clear sky is magical. I just need to get out "there" more often. Hadrian's Wall will be a challenge but one to prepare for and look forward to. Keep doing what you do Matt. Happy New Year to you and the family. Paul 👍😊

Happy new year Maff! Thank you for reminding us about what we all should know but so often forget. We don't need to go hundreds or a thousand miles from our home. We just need outdoor time, because it's our natural habitat. Chances are that I will be around in July. It would be great to meet up, for a beer, a hike, ... Whatever you like. My daughter is moving to Scotland (Edinburgh) so I will take a boat to Newcastle few times a year I hope. Tips on some wild camp area you would recommend are very welcome of course. Cheers Dimitri

Happy New Year buddy. You're dead right, it's in our DNA make-up and being back in nature is what keeps us grounded and it rejuvenates us. We are pushed continually to live a lifestyle not all of us wants. They can keep their ideologies and society's rules.....for the likes of us, it is being in touch with nature that keeps us well.

Happy new year Maff. I totally agree with getting out in nature. I'm not into camping but I appreciate my little break at Christmas where we rented a cottage at the beach and spent a few hours on the beach every morning before breakfast. It was difficult going back to my appartment in the city but at least the countryside isn't so far away. Even the ghost hunting was a great excuse to get out into nature.

31:09 LoL that is what you talked about earlier: where we came from and what feels natural right and such - they made it custom fit to our basic instinct. Fat .. And salt.. That is rare in nature and that is what you should kill for. Other natural instincts are: rape plunder racism jumping to conclusions prejudice and oh yeah LOVE of course.. ..well, I guess you have also read the Noah Yuval book. It is most probably correct indeed. And I do like to underscore the dark and nasty stuff - I do apologize.. Oh, and about the fear in the dark: yes!! There are now wolves in my caping area, haven't met one yet but there is wolf poop and tracks all around and campers have heard it at night. Also, lots of camera trap footage. So I am stoked!! But great to see you out in the hammock and in that nice spot of yours, it has been a while. Pity you had to leave when it was getting so pretty in the snow!! Nice plan to walk the wall, a man does need a plan. Great one-nighter - thanks - man at the gate - best of luck in 2022 - greets to the missus.. see youse

Someone might have said this, I haven't read all the comments...but I believe scientists estimate the earth to be 4.5 billion years young, not 45B. And I think they peg the big bang at 13.8 billion. I dont know, seems like its anybody's guess. If you say 45 billion then right you are, Maff. Cheers [hic]🍺
