Intentional or not, the beautiful example - Barry hearing Mike talk about feeling overwhelmed, and that feeling driving his "have you ever thought about leaving" - and hearing not just the words but then trying to dig into the circumstances behind it, and while not beating around the bush, still with such gentle consideration to how difficult admitting that and talking about that must be, approaching the conversation with a mind to problem solve it, so Mike may not have to feel that way (or to that extent) in the future. It's the empathy for your team mates that really shines. At the end of the day, you are all people, and care about one another as people. Really interesting one, I enjoyed the funny anecdotes but also the tough, honest bits. You've come so far, and have done so much to be so very proud of - and at the end of the day, you have "influenced" so many people, in so many positive ways: you have helped them choose to cook rather than take-out, how to shop smarter, how to not feel the limitation of a tight budget so much, to cut through the confusion and the mystery of the bits and bobs around a kitchen. Your channel has been a huge support to so many people in their journey through their relationship with food.

I feel like a lot of episodes that Mike is in end up with him being side-cast. Whenever he tries something out of the ordinary, he is laughed at for "pushing his limits." Even if he wins normally, everyone is surprised. Jamie is the riskiest normal these days, and Barry, with his concoctions, but somehow Mike still gets the rap. You guys are such a fun blend of different personalities that its absolutely amusing to see you be so different yet understand each other so well! Ill love to hear you talk more about yourself (obviously only as much as you are comfortable sharing). Like what were you doing before sorted? Was Mike really a music teacher (and if yes, are there any past students that watch)? How the whole "Ben cooked for the queen" thing happened? We only know snippets! And as a p.s. Mike should 100% do what makes him happy, no matter what it would be, but sorted without him would NEVER be the same. He is such a joy to watch! Just listening to the conversation about Mike and his work in production - I just wanted to say, I'm sorry. I'm sorry that in times when the channel has changed, when the focus has changed, the style has changed, the pace or even just the opening titles - that I didn't take the time to appreciate the whys and whos. I have always been a fan since I found you 7 years ago. I became very attached when your videos were the thing that kept me sane and entertained as a new mum - camped on the sofa, sortedfood as a all day constant in the background, eating, sleeping and holding my new baby, alone and tired and scared. It made me very judgemental. But I have always persevered through any of my gripes because it was always brilliant. But, Mike, if I ever was harsh, I apologise. What you do, what you all do, has brought me so much joy and entertainment and been a real comfort in the scariest and biggest changes of my life. You have taught me. both cooking and about how to be a more concious and considerate person. Thank you. To all the guys, but almost especially, Mike et al. BTW. Still a massive Jamie Stan.

While true something I value even more is the privacy of the people I enjoy watching. I was watching a streamer the other day and people asked for a GF reveal. He just said "never". Keeping work and life separate. I really respect that. It's a bit silly to think any of us are chummy with the people we watch. But, as they said here as well, if I don't like specific content then just don't watch it. I think this is healthy for any creator. Let them do what they do and I'll watch what I like and skip the rest. It would be spectacularly weird if our views synched on everything. As for influencers.... well..... Sorted has influenced me somewhat for the better I would say, but it depends what the term means :).

Big props to Mike for the vulnerability, it's so hard to do, but it's such an important to conversation to have. But also and equal massive respect to Barry for taking the time to say (more than once) no no I want to dial back to what you're feeling and really understand, and find out what caused it. I think we've all been in that situation where we've been vulnerable, but then felt too exposed and feel like we've said enough, or not sure how to explain our feelings in words, and tried to move on from it to another topic. And it's very easy to go "well they want to move on and I don't want them to feel awkward so sure" but it's very inspiring for Barry to go "no sorry, can we go back to that point, we haven't really got to the bottom of why you felt like that and I want to understand it (because you're my friend and I don't want to happen again)" SO absolute bravo

I think that sense of freshness can only remain when you collectively enjoy what you are doing and enjoy working with each other. Hello gentlemen - I'm a new fan (discovered Sorted maybe 3 weeks ago when it popped up in my you tube feed and I gave it a chance "Oh, that looks fun!") and I just want to thank you all, and your team/crew, for all the hard work you do for our enjoyment and education. AND, thank you for keeping it on KZbin. I have been talking you up every chance I get. Heaps of love from Canada

This reminds me of why I really loved Big Night In. It wasn't just the amazing food, but everyone enjoying themselves around a table and talking casually. (That and the amazing jokes, like Jesus inventing the raising agent 😆)

YESSSS! Please do more of these! I don't think any of us of the Sorted Community would be anything but welcoming of more leisurely, free-wheeling conversations amongst the SortedTeam. We all watch, not just for the stellar content but the lovely and clearly abiding friendships and dearly wish to be flies on the wall of the Sorted studio! Although, the idea of so many flies is quite repulsive, so perhaps, butterflies of the Sorted Community . But definitely, I can safely say, we would all want more!
@sirBrouwer6 ай бұрын
for me its probable even more that I prefer the leisurely video's above all. it's also why I often enjoyed the Friday Ben or Kuch teaching Jamie or Barry a cooking techniek one on one. (Mike is operating the single camera). it is more personal. Also to creep you out with a few million flies how many maggots would that be on that studio wall as well. Just picture that. (your welcome)

@@sirBrouwer You’re right, the videos with the team just hanging out, talking and learning about food, especially the Big Night In, Made Personal , Food with friends series were definitely the videos that initially hooked me in. I keep coming back for the camaraderie and laughter as much as to learn more about food. PS: No sirBrouwer, I shall not torment my imagination, however, you are welcome to revel in your own writhing fancies, as much as you wish.

I am hard-pressed to think of an episode that I didn't totally enjoy, haven't learned something from, or laughed out loud at, literally. You are a bright spot for my husband and I, especially when we need a break from all the difficult stuff we are bombarded with in the world. Your genuine friendships shine through and we come away feeling recharged. I particularly identified with Mike's feelings of being overwhelmed. I wanted to hug him! His candor was honest and refreshing and all of your hard work you guys do is so appreciated! Thank you, guys!

I didn't anticipate how much I would love this episode. But I actually think this is my favorite Sorted video I have ever watched. Seeing you all being so real, it really helped me see you all as people, rather than just content (admittedly, amazing content I really enjoy). Thank you for being human and sharing with us.

Well done guys. Whether you set out to achieve it or not, you have just created the best episode. Not about food, but why men should talk. Great mental health exercise.

Yes!! I got the same thing from this episode. How wonderful to see men with so much affection for one another. When Mike said Jamie was lovely, I knew we were watching something we've never seen before from these guys. Also, I've always suspected Jamie was a lovely inclusive man. The one word thing was a perfect few mins. where we learned a lot about all of them.

@@margowsky That moment reminded me of when they made Jamie's ideal meal. They asked Barry to describe him in three words and B's response was "makes me happy" bc J just gives off wonderful energy and makes an effort to make sure people are in a good head space

I can honestly say that Sorted Food is my favourite KZbin channel, because not only is it a group of mates having good wholesome fun with food, it is also educational, light-hearted and genuinely funny. As someone who suffers with mental health and weight issues, I have found this channel to be a lifesaver in more ways than I can say. I have great respect for the lads, and their team and the work they do. I would like to say a massive thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am loving the new podcast, Under the Cloche, it is great to see interesting people take about their stories and relationship with food. I really enjoyed todays episode seeing a different side of the lads was really interesting and hearing about Ebbers and Mike having an argument was fascinating, as it reminds me so much of me and my friends when we have a barny, but it usually ends with a your mum joke. I really enjoyed listening to the lads talking about the business and their friendship, I would love to hear them chat more, but also to hear from Ed and Izzy too.

Absolutely love this episode. Ive been watching since I was 18 and I'm 31 now and it's so nice hearing the background struggles of working with your friends. I worked with my partner for a year and I found it hard separating the two - I couldn't imagine doing it for as long as you guys have. Huge props to you and the team for creating everything you have over the years. Absolute loves Mike's vulnerability answering the question about thinking of leaving, and how it almost came of a shock to the others. I've had so many moments of feeling burnout and being a massive people pleaser, I've never spoke up until it was too late, and when I did my colleagues were surprised. The way he shrunk into himself though, I just want to give him a big hug! ❤❤❤

43:11 i'm not sure if i'm mistaken, but to see mike hugging his knee throughout most of the video, and then letting go of it after the guys' willingness and care for his admission, it was nice to see that shift. i apologize if it wasn't related, i rarely comment due to my social anxiety and it's probably just something i experience personally. i came across Sorted some years back and took note very quickly of how every video i clicked on seemed to always be fun and happy, how special and rare that is on any platform, and as a result i've come to love you guys and be assured that no matter what video comes out, it will always, always pick me up on my bad days. make sure to keep having fun you guys, and may your friendships last and hold ever stronger for years to come. much love 🙏🏻❤

Y’all should do a “Sorted Food Cruise”. I would love to go on one. Everyone could have a meet and greet/live QandA as well as just hanging out. It would also give everyone a chance to vacay with their families. It would also give everyone a chance to travel new or well loved locations together.

How I would describe the channel to anyone who hadn't seen it is, "Five British guys who spent the last 14 years putting their fingers in each others' pickle jars with an occasional cameo from Pumpy the Cow. Oh yeah, and they cook stuff decently well, too."

This video was an absolute joy to watch. It had giggles, awkward tension, emotionally raw and revealing content, business conversation, and as always.., overflowing with love, comradeship, and genuineness. Those are the reasons that I elect to watch every piece of content that you release. You all bring such distinct aspects to the team (Barry = scouts out new ideas, Ben = minutiae and meticulous action, Mike = tenacity, Jamie = wholesome-ness, Kush = the whacky sage), and having the opportunity to watch you guys create a channel based on the premise of "that sounds fun!" is the greatest pleasure one could ask for. Thank you for your boundless generosity and endless work. 😊❤

Of all the podcasts I think this has been my favourite! It really felt like we were one of the gang there with you chatting around a pub table! I’ve watched you for years and told so many people about you. My husband had never even heard of you when we first got together and now it’s a ritual that before we go to bed we find a video he hasn’t yet seen and watch it together. I do miss the old style poker face videos just because I can’t watch you all at once and feel like I miss bits but the new style is just as amazing and still makes me chuckle. Thank you for being your genuine true selves! ❤

As someone who watches everything, and I mean it like I said, from you when it comes out and comes back to some videos from you when feeling down I want to thank you for all the times you made me smile throughout the day. I'm following you now for like 12 years now and it was quiet a ride but the best imaginable one. These conversations you have just show once more how a banger of a team you are and how much you value everyone of you. Also I can completely understand Mike's perspective of leaving and was soo amazed how all of you handled this kind of conversation. With other people I experienced so much different approaches to burnout and it just shows once more how good of a team and friends you are. Please don't let anyone from you down in the future. Just thank you for being like you are and keep up the good work of showing us the world of food.

I would definitely enjoy any more of these that you want to do and feel comfortable with. ❤ every episode of Sorted feels like a hug to me because it’s centered around the friendship. 😊 although sometimes it’s the kind of hug where someone messes up your hair and tweaks your nose :)

One of the things I'd love to see you do with the normals is kind of the opposite of the chef skills challenge. In the CSC you had the normals trying to shore up their weak points, learn and hone new things. In the same vein as so many impressive street food stalls around the world, I'd like to see the normals each choose a strength and try to focus on that for a little while and see how far they can go when that's their sole culinary focus for a set period of time.

I think the word “deeper” for Mike is very accurate. It took me a little while to realise that he wasn’t just a handsome face and, if I’m honest, a bit of the lightweight good looking one to balance out Jamie’s fun, Ben’s seriousness and Barry’s enthusiastic every-man. Mike, to be feels like one of the drivers it’s just that he works hard at not making it seem that way. The reason this works is everybody has their role and not being able to clearly always see what that is makes the whole so much more cohesive.

I am unlike a lot of the other viewers on this channel. I discovered you when my algorithm put up a video of a banana and pesto. In January I started watching you in linear order from the very oldest video to the most recent and I just caught up today. What a culmination! I have had more fun with your silly antics, deep relationships, and travel adventures. I have learned to make mayonnaise for the first time at 62 years of age, as well as the discipline of cleaning up after myself, instead of waiting until the next morning. As corporate behemoths like the Food Network become more irrelevant, people like myself, are looking to you for freshness and excitement. Keep it up up up!
