He is beating around the bush to say yes basically it’s a microchip in the brain...he is already trying to condition us into accepting that we are already cyborgs bcuz we use technology (ie computers, smart phones) heavily in our daily lives.

What if he using himself chip in the brain, but just knows people cant handle it now, so he tries to hide it. Thats maybe why he stutters and takes long time to answer. Historically it would meant that Elon Musk is (hopefully?) first person in Earth to have chip in his brain. And when tine will come, he will tell us.

He doesn't change the world tho it's just another greenwashing claim he uses to fool hipsters who have no knowledge about economy or technology to hype his products. Get some education, nobody in my college takes this guy serious we already know to much about his dishonesty his lies and his products that don't fulfill his claims.

Although these ideas are not that difficult to understand, I think they are trying to come to grips with the idea that he is actually suggesting the only way we are going to keep up is to have everyone actually implant neural interface into their brain..and this will have to happen very soon. Their responses seemed incredulous as opposed to incompetent, (at least to me). Things that instantly popped into my mind were the fact we can't even solve world hunger...no way we get this "Neural Lace" into everyone, not even close. So that means pretty much best case scenario we end up with a God AI and a very elite set of God humans..and the rest of us are cattle. Given that option, and human history, one wonders if just having the God AI might be the better option. A second question I would posit is whether we will actually be able to produce the "Neural Lace" before the Singularity?
@holupsoyoubesayin1602
@holupsoyoubesayin1602 8 жыл бұрын
"the fact we can't even solve world hunger" Are we trying to solve world hunger? Do you see governments, businesses etc. focusing on this issue? No. We produce enough to keep everyone fed, we just don't want it badly. It's pretty much a no profit game, therefore nobody does it. The same was with the moon landing, it was pretty much a pissing contest between Russia and the US, after it was done nobody went there. Why? Because there's no money to be gained from it, and no more pissing contests to be won considering money losses. You just need to take into consideration that people like Musk are singular throughout history, most seek individual wealth instead of that of the species.
@easyTree77
@easyTree77 8 жыл бұрын
+Ravinian so, best case things remain as they are despite the introduction of AI?
@Ravinian
@Ravinian 8 жыл бұрын
easyTree77 Well, I don't think the status quo is best case by any means. The singularity could have vastly different outcomes, it's just hard to say. We could have an AI that ends war, corruption ect...basically a Utopia. The AI could also just go Skynet and end all life on earth. Seems to me there are too many variables and too much uncharted territory to make any sort of accurate prediction as to what the "god" AI would do. I can predict pretty clearly what a "god" human would do.
@Nonpeasant

What is wrong with pissing contests? Many governments used to seek national glory, which effectively translates into profits for the species.

He actually says there will be people who choose to remain as legacy humans, although they will be a minority like the Amish is today. Except some of these legacy humans will be highly evolved beings, who have powers that machines don't. since Kurzweil thinks like a machine he doesn't know of these powerful ones. @@FrutigerAeroFan839 I think we already are. a cyborg is a being that uses technology to enhance its body and mind. you do this every day with every piece of technology that you use-- your phone enhances your communication ability, the internet enhances your information storage capacity, and bikes cars trains and planes enhance your transportation abilities. any being with the ability to use all these technologies is already superhuman compared to a naked human being. no being in the past could communicate with the entire world at once or move across continental land masses at such speeds or fly at will or have products appear in your home within hours or even minutes of you deciding that you want it. these are indeed superpowers. it only doesn't seem that way because everyone has it. the only limiting factor is the interfacing being clunky, as its less efficient than a direct brain connection. yes there are very very substantial risks, but so did all of the technologies that we just mentioned. the human race continues to advance and most technologies are only a matter of time. one day FTL or near light speed travel may also be possible. we're literally waltzing through the regions where our forefathers thought gods and goddesses must be. not saying we shouldn't tread carefully. but there is a way to promote technology responsibly and with care, and I think that's where we are failing the most given the disconnect between technological advancement and the politics that governs how they are allowed to affect our lives. at the end of the day, tech is just a tool. no different than a rock used to break another rock.

Elon is a guy with a mild form of Autism, ADHD or at the very least social anxiety disorder where much like other geniuses he can't keep his mind in one spot at one time. That's the main reason he seems to struggle with his speech. Most people can train themselves to focus on one thing and keep their mind on that track. He's thinking of three things at once and trying to get them all out in some coherent way. The difference between him and your average run of the mill genius is he was able to make a success of Paypal in the face of all odds and now with some serious coin behind him he's able to live out his fantasy of creating the world of the future that us '80s children always dreamed of. He's gone about it very practically and incredibly effectively and he has the support of some of the best minds in the world now. Elon will be known as the father of tomorrow for future generations. They'll wish they were alive when he was. For us, we're lucky enough that we are. So enjoy the ride.

Somehow it seems to me that people fail to realize that the most complicated system is the human body, the most complex and out of which all this AI, Tesla self-driven cars come and so on. Computers cannot exceed in totality, their Creators. Yes, a computer can calculate faster but it cannot Create its Creators. It's like the oven creating Fire. No, an oven can protect Fire, it can support Fire, it can enhance Fire but an Oven does not create Fire. It's a tool, just like AI is a tool. Now, let's not be tools and realize that we are the Creators, the ultimate Beings in this three-dimensional perspective.

In other words the ability of SELF regulation is extremely important to having and keeping our fundamental rights and our freedom of privacy. Thomas Hines Sure he's addicted to science, but regardless, he's addicted to something else too, something which is not that beneficial. When you get too much dopamin flooding your brain, it starts to work much worse for the aspects that you don't train on a daily basis, in his case it's the speed of recalling vocabulary.
@McCune1
@McCune1 7 жыл бұрын
+Ibos He isn't addicted to anything like that, he has Aspergers, making it hard for him to convey his thoughts to others. He also goes into these interviews completely blind and does all the thinking on the spot, knowing if he makes a mistake, the internet will criticise him for it and question his credibility. This combined with the fact he has to simplify what he's saying for everyone (mostly the interviewers) to understand what he is saying, is making it really hard for him to "recall his vocabulary". As I did writing this comment facing, mostly the same problems.

What is to be human? do we have some fundamental values, what is happiness? do we prefer to live in a virtual environment and get rid of the physical? if we merge with technology, will the organic body remain or will it cause its atrophy? things really go fast, and humanity hasn't ponder over some related philosophical questions such as the ones I cited.

A neural lace would exponentially increase the intelligence and even physical prowess of a human. Any learning task would take place in a matter of seconds. The human brain recognizes patterns and works with creative solutions and then dumps all the mechanical calculations onto the digital layer, which processes it almost instantly. Let's say you wanted to learn Quantum Physics. All you need to do is learn the language and the rules and you can pass the arithmetic over to your digital layer for verification. The same could be done with mathematical logic proofs. You just need to understand what you want to prove, then you can pass the logic over to your digital layer which could run various attempts at proving the logic using a combination of brute-force and learning algorithms. All this would take place extremely quickly, since you have a direct IO stream between your cortex and the digital layer. Any physical feat could be performed with ease. Say for instance, you wanted to jump from a wall 10m high and land (without faltering) on a target the size of your hand. You could pass the physics calculations over to your digital layer which would process the solution. The solution would be returned to you which contains the timings and force used by all your muscles/actuators required to successfully complete the task while minimizing damage to yourself. Our movements would become incredibly precise if we needed them to be. Interfacing with the digital world is truly the next step in our evolution. It is unknown whether it will even be possible.

Their work is to make him talk and get to some kind of point, and that was achieved. I don't think they've manipulated him, so they seem like a good interviewers to me. The fact that they're keeping their talk simple is merely a tool to put Musk in a position to describe his ideas to less geeky audience. What's wrong with that?

3:25 Ok, yes, our senses do send a lot of information very quickly to our brain. 🤔 However, can our "output" be anywhere near as quick? When you're talking to someone you're thinking, when you say something, it takes more time than it does to see and hear a fly pass in from of you. Would we increase that speed with technology? How invasive would that be? Would we lose the privacy of our minds? Who would manufacture this technology layer? I don't think relying on companies to do so would be good...

Listening to Elon's well formulated opinion on the subject matter made me realize that promoting this given neural lace would be a disgrace to the Neuroplasticity of the brain. We absorb our mental experiences and I believe this is linked in the way the brain matter operates over time. While I respect Elon as a visionary, he is indirectly promoting the idea of an electronic device implemented in the neural circuit of our body. Our species is now contained in the number of billions. We have massive potential in natural growth. Accelerating this growth artificially no matter how minor the operation is still incredibly dangerous and unwise. I respect Elon, but what he just said is absolutely absurd if we take our extremely limited knowledge into account. We should grow with care. He knows this, but he might become impatient enough when it comes to his dreams of reaching Mars that he is promoting these concepts.

Our input, eyes/ears take in a lot of data, but our output is extremely slow, punching away with two hands, or speaking with mouth. What we need is a neural lace, in a symbiotic relationship with our cortical system, to communicate faster.
