The Ender King no they actually added more monsters to fight underwater, that being Abyssal Lagiacrus (it’s rare species) goldbeard ceadus and the final boss of this game dire miralis was somewhat semi aquatic They did add ivory Lagiacrus and purple Ludroth which tend to stay on land a lot more, the new map for the game, Misty peaks sadly lacked an underwater area and they added many more land dwelling monsters but it’s still there and an important part of the game, but after this game they scrapped the idea, there’s rumours that it was gonna be implemented in world and it was only lacking in other games due to performance and technical issues with the handheld consoles but we aren’t 100% sure the exact reason

7:31 To Cotton's credit, Capcom actually implemented climbing specifically as a replacement for swimming (people didn't like underwater combat... i don't quite know why, but they didn't), adding verticality with ledges and such instead. Hence why MHGU hunters can vault up walls with ease while MHFU hunters slowly and gradually pull themselves up ladders and vines.
