this reminds me of a story about two Baptist churches in Macon Ga. the original building constructed before the Civil War was enormously gorgeous! the white plantation owners sat down in the nave and their Blacks were made to sit up in the balcony. after the war, the Blacks built their own Baptist church several blocks away... much more modest in architecture. when Barack Obama was elected, those two congregations decided to share a meal a wk and discuss whatever at those potlucks. thus, healing began. if you don't put yourself elbow to elbow with others, you will never know the great people you're missing out on. I stumbled across your channel from the recent conversation between John Wood, Jr. and Coleman Hughes. Watched this vid next. You are exactly what we need right now in this country! I’m defo going to be following your movement more closely and maybe getting involved.

Me too, disappointed to see a Comey interview- Really??? His BS has led us down farther to a world of division and lack of good faith discussions- To say the least about his background, his Clinton history and his actions. Maybe there are other -lol- "Problematic" interviews here. But Coleman got me to sub and now I will check you out

I have been involved for over a year. I find that the process and communication format and process is very productive and can help individuals who do not think alike still be able to communicate with one another to produce understanding.

So, I was at work. My boss was from a tough background and a tough town. Apparently, he got mugged. And he went into a rant about the "low life" who did this to him and definitely slurred his ethnic identity. I was about to tool into my boss about descriptions like that being inappropriate. But, that afternoon, I had met with a friend of mine. He was a social worker. And he was telling me about the power of listening. And, in that conversation, with my boss, somehow, I just caught myself. I stopped my ego's desire to put him in his place...and I just listened. And listened and listened. First, as he saw that I was listening, he got calmer and calmer. And that, instead of thinking that my boss was a jerk, what I actually saw was the fear. That mugging had terrorized him. He wasn't really hateful, he was just frightened and spouting angry language. And, after that conversation we became friends. And that friendship spread to the rest of the staff...and eventually we all started socializing together. I really can't say that, generally, I am a good listener. But I had that moment and I can share that if folks can figure out how to engage with that discipline of listening? The world would definitely be a better place.

This is fantastic. Thank you. We need this so badly -- almost more than vaccine for Covid! We need a vaccine for polarization and maybe you are giving us our clinical trial (:

Typical brainwashed news watcher. You think we need another vaccine. Good God, save us from these fools.

In Italy two people, Beppe Grillo and Gianroberto Casaleggio, founded a movement that goes beyond the left and the right, is called M5S. A political-social performance, never experienced before, based on the citizen's responsibility to no longer delegate his pathological existence to politicians. I hope that citizens in America will do the same thing, because only if the citizen changes his way of participating, taking himself active, the responsibility for a real change, politics, will he truly be at the service of the collective. The real evil of politics lies in the neurotic need, which politicians always put in first place, betraying the ideal they show, to citizens to have their vote. I hope that the new attempt at change will find in American citizens an active consensus, to individual responsibility, the only one that can evolve the greatest democracy on the planet towards a new human awareness of living together without more destructiveness and hatred. With HEART

I myself am a centrist and therefore, do not align myself not even strictly with left or right. If God is neither liberal nor conservative nor any of political or ideological diversion and doesn’t play politics, neither should we. It’s not always easy to love our neighbor.

Great name “Braver Angels.” Fair-minded initiative. However, it strikes me as a little naive (just b/c the founders are filled with the idealism that goes with being young). *Q TO CONTEMPLATE: IS IT BETTER TO BE UNITED IN **_ERROR_** - - OR - - TO BE DIVIDED IN **_TRUTH?_* Give it some honest thought. What are the potential consequences of each? What consequences flow from being united in _ERROR?_ What consequences flow from being divided by _TRUTH?_

Too bad they're NYC based -- very Democratic & super-educated area -- a social bubble insofar as understanding & respecting "flyover" America. Would make more sense for them to locate in middle America. St. Louis or KC area please? Of course any major metropolis will lean Democrat. St. Paul is the more conservative of the Twin Cities. Maybe there? Or choose a metropolis in a red state? I'm a Democrat, but until Braver Angels picks a more "purple" place as its HQ they'll struggle to gain traction w moderate to right of center Americans. Des Moines or Milwaukee could work too. What do you say, Braver Angels? I'm in upper Midwest & have been to all those places & lived most of my life in one of them. I'd be happy to help you accomplish that. No, I'm not a Realtor.
@johnwood19112 жыл бұрын
The truth is New York doesn't have any more to do with Braver Angels than any other state. It's of a mailing address.
@kell_checks_in Жыл бұрын
Agreed. Look at the structure of the questions they pose. They continually, over and over beg the question of what degree of government involvement should be in people's lives. The assumption always is that public schools should exist, that public control of people's behavior should exist.
@TheSwissChalet11 ай бұрын
Indeed, this has solidified by desire to remove myself entirely from these people and work harder to create separate, parallel systems that NEVER cross paths with these folks.
@minngael5 ай бұрын
One of the founders Bill Doherty is from Minnesota & still lives there, we are a slightly purple blue state. Outside the Twin Cities mostly Republican & many people in the city have moved there from red states.
@kell_checks_in Жыл бұрын
You need to bring in a whole lot more red before you'll get me to sit down with the overwhelming group of blue you're presenting here.
@TheSwissChalet11 ай бұрын
Absolutely. This garbage turned me off MORE than I already was toward these people.
@minngael5 ай бұрын
They said like 5 times that it's half red/ half blue, and none of the people that talked said which "side" they were on. What signalled to you that it was mostly liberal?
@drchaffee2 жыл бұрын
Where, within this channel, is there a simple, complete conversation between a red and blue that exemplifies Braver Angels methodology? Not an hour-long debate, not workshop razzle-dazzle, but just a successful conversation?
@TheSwissChalet11 ай бұрын
You won’t ever find it, because it’s not there. This is a highly produced feel-good marketing piece masquerading as a strategy. The average IQ person will think this “group” is just wonderful…I’m glad I’m not the only one tired of the stage and scripted fakery of crap like this.
@randygault45643 жыл бұрын
Conservative and liberal are not mutually exclusive. In some contexts (e.g. liberty) they have the same meaning. What do you mean "half conservative and half liberal"?
@minngael5 ай бұрын
They mean people who self identify as those labels and yes many people see themselves as socially or fiscally conservative or liberal. Different political labels are also used in other countries- liberal has a more conservative meaning in most European countries for example.
