Seriously Dude. I recall the first vid I watched and you were on Fraser and your awning collapsed in the wind. Although you struggled a bit, you had help and strapped it all together to finish your holiday. All I could think at the time was 'so embarrassing, the poor bugger'. I thought you really had guts to put that up for public viewing. I have watched every episode since. Seen you change vans, tell your story openly, honestly, and go from strength to strength. You cut off the locks, shared your family with us, and "IUTBC" taught us all in the caravan world a thing or two. Well done my friend. I'm old enough to be your father, be proud of what you have given FREELY to the caravan world. Keep up the good work. All the best to you and your beautiful family.

Awesome job on fixing up good ol' Bertha. 🙂 I agree with a lot of people suggesting the overtaking signs on the black sections. However, I saw a great sticker once that would also work on Bertha. It had one arrow point right saying, "Overtakers" and an arrow pointing left saying, "Undertakers." It's a bit of fun that might be something you'd like to try. 😉

I did a similar bottom feed on my motorhome tanks as I had 90 litre tank under a 45 litre tank and being interconnected they never filled properly as you had to wait for the 45 to drainto the 90 litre tank and it took ages to fill. Bottom feed rules. Never had a problem since. Just put a cap on the hose connection side as you dont want mud wasps filling up your fill point. A clip on hose connection filled with silicone will do it.

We did a water fill system on our van years ago which works the same as you have just done. The only difference was we used reinforced garden hose which allowed for easier routing of the hose in the confined spaces. You will find it will work very well without any issues. We have had exactly the same setup for the last 5 years. As we only have 2x95 litre tanks we use the centre tap for mains feed. The tank feed enters via the centre entry and the top hole is used as the vent which has 12mm pipe rising upward and attaches to the floor. This ensures we have full tanks when filling. We purchased an Ozito 12volt transfer pump (10litre/minute) from Bunnings $99 which we use when filling from containers etc. We mounted the manifold further out so that the fitting protrudes outside the van- too old to crawl under to turn the taps! Works fantastic. ps I have never built caravans!

Hi Alex, I found with my van water tanks the big issue was with the breathers, the hose connected to them went down under the chassis rail and back up to the fill point creating an airlock as the shallow height of the tank didn't create enough pressure differential to draw fresh air in leaving water in the tank you can't access. I fitted a short piece of hose to the breathers and went straight up to the underside of the floor where I put a fitting with a stainless steel screen..... job done works great.

Yes best to fill tanks from bottom and remove filler caps when filling ( air needs to escape and tank fills faster ) Cover caps to water inlet and mains inlet for dirt and bugs. White JG pipe ( reinforced ) is better for hot water system. 1/2in black pvc pipe would of done from filler manifold, same as draw to pump. Accumulator tank after pump are great

Breather would work better if on the top of the tank and possibly if it was bigger. Thanks for your plumbing video. I found it helpful for our situation too. Our 2 x 75 litre tanks only ever fill to three quarters each. I think the breather is part of our problem too. Your individual pressure fill could do the trick for us. As you got 216.8 litres on the total fill, could it be that your tanks are actually 75 litres each? 3 tanks @ 75 litres would be 225 litres total. Just a thought. 😀

I'm a bit confused. If you fit the ball valve to your gravity fillers how is the air going to get out of the tanks when you are pressure filling them? I don't think the vents that come up to your filler caps will be big enough to let the air out quickly and I've seen people split their tanks if they try to fill too quickly. Also you will need to make sure the air vent pipes don't have air locks from the water or you won't get air back into the tank when pumping from the tanks. Just a couple of things to think about hope this helps.

The inlet on each tank need to go in the top. At least near the top, otherwise, the pressure will eventually cause the tank to crack at the joint (like the example you showed at the beginning of the clip). Cutting the "eyebrows" on an angle (inside edge [/ \]), would improve the look. I like the "Give Way to Turning Vehicle" signs as others have suggested. I think this episode, was more interesting/entertaining than watching the Super Cars at Mt Panorama today. Cheers..

Nice work guys, just thinking about your filling issue, maybe because your filler and breather are on the same end of the tanks and they are baffled, the flow volume is not allowing all the air out. Possibly try letting them sit for a minute or so after initial fill, then slowing the flow down and see if you can get more in. 🤔 may or may not help but worth a shot.

My opinion is tank capacity quoted is the physical outside measurement (WxLxH). With a tank ribs, sidewalls, Etc. your actual capacity is about 10-15% less. Also once the water level drops below the top of the outlet your pump sucks air leaving the last 5+ liters unusable. I also got a full refund for my Topogee as it was woefully inaccurate. Bottom line is your 95l tank only holds 75l, maybe that's why your van had 5 tanks?
