Lookin' good Ted. It's really coming together and in essence you will have a new and much better plane. 👍

Very cool, Ted! I am excited and looking forward to hearing your observations over the difference pre- and post-new engine.

Congratulations! I am still waiting on my engine which should be ready soon. In the meantime I have been flying a Duchess while working on my Multi engine rating. Earned my rating Wednesday, which was a BLAST! Hope to see you at ZPH.

Awesome! I am going to wait ton my multi for a while.... I should be back in the air next week! Thanks for watching!

Ted! Great post. Thanks for keeping us updated. So good to see the new engine run! Looking forward to more advice in future videos. My 172 will need an engine sooner rather than later (3,800 SMOH). It’s not making metal and the oil analysis is trending well. But all good things come to an end.

Don’t force it if it works don’t fix it and if it’s not asking to be fixed don’t go ahead and do it. Run that thing out for as long as you can and it may last for another thousand hours if it’s been well cared for. Thanks for watching!

will be keenly awaiting the detail videos on both the engine and the interior! 2 years shy of 50, and saving some pocket money for the big present for myself when the day comes :)

Have you thought about getting rid of your mags, and get a Surefire electronic ignition?
@Over50andLearningToFly3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I thought about it for a quick second but I decided not to because if you lose electrical power you lose your mags and the mechanical mags will still keep on firing. Thanks for watching!

Congrats! My 182 took 5 months for the engine. I’m doing an avionics upgrade in September. Really thinking hard about that engine monitor.
@Over50andLearningToFly3 жыл бұрын
You’ll really need it to stay on top of the engine even though it’s a little bit more you’ll add resale value to the plane and be able to stay on top of your engine. Thanks for watching!

4:07 - That looks *really* cool, Ted. To think... normal checks for Mag Drops, etc are pretty analog - you have a full-on digital display. Looking forward to seeing you airborne. Are you doing the initial test flight, or do you have someone else do that?
@Over50andLearningToFly3 жыл бұрын
I’ll do the initial break in flight …. I’ll have more on that - thanks for watching!

When you purchased your rebuilt prop, did you have to go thru another separate process to have the prop balanced? And I assume more expense for the balancing process? And what's next in the mechanical side of things, a Powerflow exhaust system?
@Over50andLearningToFly3 жыл бұрын
The prop balance was included and I already have a power flow … thanks for watching!!!

Could you install the interior/carpet stuff yourself?...or does a mechanic have to do that?
@Over50andLearningToFly3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s perfectly legal to install the interior is self and I’ll be making several programs on that but I probably won’t be getting around to that till the fall. I just don’t want to plan to be down for another month. Thanks for watching!
