It's so frustrating that they've adapted this from a novel so the material is RIGHT THERE but they somehow refuse to use it. Like funny you mention therapy, because the novel did have Fang discuss the fact that they had to put Phum through some pretty intensive therapy after he came back from being abroad which tbh would have been such an interesting aspect to discuss on the show. I feel like the director or script writer whoever were so hellbent on keeping the show happy and fluffy that they're forcing it without realizing that showing the path to getting to that happiness doesn't necessarily have to be angsty.

Ikr I read the novel they only take like 30% and 70% they improvise own script but I do fine some scene but at least we need more exposure the background story of Phum cause... It's too short for the bickering between father and Phum. Just like that. I'm just so frustrated like Javi and the complain is complaining tho- fact! 😂

We already know they struggle with writing characters with complex issues but as you said…it was right there! I haven’t read the book but you can tell there are holes in these characters. They literally make no sense, whatever they do makes no sense because we don’t know them like that. We need to move past these fan service series where the characters are one dimensional.

I did read (translated) parts of the novel and watched the summaries made by Thai speakers and, tbh, I can understand why a lot of the parts were skipped or changed. "We Are" is one of the first Thai BL novels and, as a lot of early BL works, is quite problematic by modern standards. It has a bit of that unintentional "we feel a bit sinful writing about forbidden subject, so we try to make the same-sex romance seem more pure than the heterosexual one, with pure 'bottoms' saving their red flag playboy romantic interests and setting them on a better path". (I don't blame the author, lots of early BL in many countries has the same problems, but if it weren't for them, the genre could not exist and mature at all). I saw one Thai fan joking that if They kept Phum the way he was, most of modern audience would start cheering for Kluen. (And I suspect the stuff in his family will still be addressed - there's still 3 eps left). Q was a mess as well - Javi mentioned here that if it wasn't for Pun's plan, he and Toey would get together anyway. However, in the novel that was actually rather unlikely as Q was busy plowing his way through the Uni's female population while being still hung on Nong Nomphan. He was actually having a girlfriend at the moment Pun's plan went in to motion, and the first part of the plan was to make Q realize he has feels for Toey his girfriend. Which does work, but while Q does dump his girfriend and kisses Toey in a moment of passion, he still doesn't ask Toey out because he's afraid that he's too much of a playboy to be a good partner for 'pure' Toey, and he believes Toey will be happier with Chain (who is fake-dating Toey at that point, not just fake-hitting on him). Pun then comes up with the idea that Chain should pretend to *cheat* on Toey, so that Q will swoop in to save him. Kinda eeeh considering the fact that that did not adress the issue as Q seing Toey and Nong Nomphan as two very different people; one he had a deep mental / cerebral connection with, and one fascinating, whimsical and mysterious. I actually liked the campfire scene added in the series where Q confessed that even before knowing Toey was Nong Nomphan, he thought Toey would be the one that could make him truly fall in love again. I also feel super bad for Chain in the novel - not only he plays a role of asshole cheater to get Q to confess, but he actually ends up having a miserable love life, somehow always ending up being a third party in a romance (aka the guy an unfaithful girlfriend/wify cheats with). Poor guy!

@@tomirab Actually the kluen situation was far messier in the novel since PhumPeem were already dating and I found him to be a huge dipshit for getting close to Peem in the name of friendship and then confessing to him in front of Phum right after Phum told him to back off coz they're dating, though i did think that all three of them messed up in some ways in that situation. He did kind of redeem himself later on but I doubt audiences would have unanimously cheered him on over Phum lol, though I do understand why people criticized novel Phum- it's one of the changes in the series I really liked from the very beginning, he's genuinely so sweet that it's easy to root for him in the series even during the earlier episodes whereas he could get pretty frustrating in the novel though he wasn't some huge red flag either. Just an outdated kind of characterization, as you mentioned. I think my issue is that there are plenty of plot points in the novel that could work just as well for the direction the series took with their characters while still adding some depth to the story. I still adore them and watch every week, but I just can't help but see that it could have been more. The translation I read focused on PhumPeem so I wasn't super familiar with QToey's story buy wow that sounds messy af. I guess all their characters also got changed for the better at least lmao

So to explain why Peem is mad at Phum for not showing up or answering the phone is because of trauma/scar/memory of the past that happened when he was a kid who still doesn't know anything yet..... If you want to know that memory you can read past this..... So this memory was of his cousin when they went to the beach(iirc) that promised and asked him to stay at his spot while he save someone drowning but the cousin didn't return. Everyone told him that his cousin went on a journey and won't be coming back. He only learned the truth when he got a bit older. Hence why he get anxiety when people don't answer or don't do what they promised to do or to not show up. Peem also expected him to be Phum confort zone already but Phum didn't came straight to him or to call him or even answer Peem's calls. So this is why he was so mad at him. (Well they did explain this part at least. 😂) Also this also would explain why Peem got so mad at Phum when he left him at the mall and didn't answer his calls only to know Phum pranked him.

At first the "make him jealous" plan was a little fun to me, but when Q started to actually be sad and have the fight w Toey, they should have stopped. Outside of the writing that was poorly done in my opinion, i also just think that they simply disrespected Q the entire time and it wasn't the funny plan that they were trying to make us think it is !

chain hinting his feelings at pun by telling him to focus on his own heart instead of everybody else’s 👀 that’s all we’ve been getting from them mostly though-hints 😫 I understand both Phum not showing up for peem bc of his dad and him not being in the right mindset to talk to him atm and peem being upset/worried bc he didn’t call or say anything to him. For me, the problem with Peem's painting isn't that it's a landscape or too simple.. it just lacks creativity. The flowers may look beautiful, but I feel they don't connect with the rest of the drawing. It's like a bipolar picture.. He could have played a little more with the colours and the angles.. That's just my personal opinion, though.. 😌

@@humam9189I don’t if you’ve been paying attention at all but peem likes the water. he’s said that many times that whenever he feels down or lack of creativity, he’s goes where water is. the roses are a symbol of phum. phum gave them to him in like ep 2 and they are like a representation of phum coming into his life and being part of him.🙂

Well i think i like this reaction the most. You're so me while I was watching this. I also did complain a lot and did a lot of eye rolls while watching this episode lol. Idk if the "win your heart" thing was necessary since they've been kissing a lot and even confessed their feelings already. I was also dumbfounded when they show the arguing with the dad scene. I wished they showed the dad like being really mad or some crying and shouting scene to make the not picking peem up scene more effective. But like what you said I still love this series and the characters so i still really enjoy it and still always looking forward for the next episodes. I enjoyed this reaction Javi! ❤

Javi, don't apologize, I literary feel the same. Like I like the show, I like the couples and all these moments, but really "Where is the plot?". I was waiting for this series from the moment they announced it. Right after the first episode I was like "All right, one more student series, it's interesting to see if they are gonna make something more from it plus PondPhuwin as main leads" so I just dived into it. Then around episodes 3-9 I was just really hooked on it because it was interesting to observe the development of PhumPeem relationship. But then ... I don't know but from that on we got to see just the same tropes over and over again. And as you said we didn't see any of the backstories which might help to understand why the character act this or that way. I will definitely finish this series but these episodes will leave the feeling of confusion and I wish they would work on the plot more especially considering that they got a chance to do the extended series for 16 episodes they could've told much more😔

Javi, I was watching it alone first as I find it hard to read the subtitle at the speed it appears and then with you but all through the series I had exactly the same thoughts as you did that what, why and what the hell is going on so I didn’t feel that you were over the top at all. So, this will be a long comment probably but here i go! First of all, there is nothing to be sorry for complaining about the show because you are right about all of it. You're so right about the show being constantly repetitive. Regarding Phum and Peem, it's ridiculous how they kiss all the time, do everything lovers would do, and even after telling each other that they love each other, they're still stuck in the flirting phase. Frankly, I'm fed up with them sticking to the same things over and over, just when I thought things were going to change. I don't understand why they are taking so long about being lovers. Another issue is that not every couple is focused equally. So, if you made this show 16 episodes - which is longer than the other series of gmmtv - at least either focus on all the couples equally so we can see them all, or don't put 4 couples in the series, or don't make the series 16 episodes long from the beginning, so that it ends in the 12th episode. I know the main couples are Phum, Peem, Q and Toey, but I can't understand the focus on Tan and Fang and no focus on the couple Chain and Pun. So, apart from a few tiny moments, we haven't seen anything about the chain and pun pair. For example, they also showed us the past of Tan and Fang, how they met, etc., but unfortunately the same does not apply to Chain and Pun, although if you focus on them, they are an extremely cute couple. As for Phum's family trauma, I find it very strange that they gloss over such an important issue and never explain it properly. Fang talked about this issue for five seconds in the first episode, and then nothing was given to us until the 11th episode, only Phum's friend Beer talked about it a little to Peem. Then, in the 12th episode, we saw his family for the first time, but again, it was not shown to us in detail. Also some things are very contradictory. For example, after Phum talked to his father in the 12th episode, he went to Peem to hug him, then they went on a trip together and talked there. That was when Phum first spoke to Peem about her family. In this episode, Phum has a "five-second, very serious argument" with his father, and then he is very badly affected by that five-second argument and does not go to pick Peem up from home. What seems strange to me is that Phum had already opened up to Peem about this issue before, now what kept him from coming to Peem? It's already a topic that has been talked about before and Peem showed his support for him. Why didn't he ever call or at least text Peem about this issue? Phum knew how important it was for Peem to submit his picture to the gallery, I don't want to say that, but he couldn't submit his picture before because of Phum and everything was ruined, what if the same thing happened again, what would happen if Peem couldn't make it in time? Like where was phum when fang texted peem saying phum is fine, you can call him now and ask about it? At least he could have sent a message and told the situation, Peem would have gone to school himself, at least he wouldn't have waited for Phum. Anyway, I hope Phum can talk with his father in the next episode about his problem, but if it will be a five-second nonsense conversation and his father will say "I did everything for you" and the topic will be closed, I don't want them to show it at all. I want a sincere conversation.

The show was carried on by the actors and editors hardworking. But i have to say that script writing is so bad. I'm srry if there is any grammar mistake.

It's the fact that, just like I feel, the dragging and the unnecessary slowness is starting to become frustating. I really want to love the series, but they sure are making it hard. Although I love that the actors are having more screentime, specially the supporting pairs. Also the same director is doing a 30 episode run for Perfect10 Liners? No, thank you. I guess business wise is a good strategy, because they'll fill months of weekly content with a single production.

Maybe, it's because I'm older but after watching this reaction and reading these comments I think I'm done. This is a TV show everyone exactly why are you getting upset and emotionally involved in something that's NOT real? I don't get it, the complaining is just too much for me. Honestly Javi, i am only watching this series with your reactions, because I do enjoy your complaining, the thirsting and the funny remarks. I am just watching this for the moments, i already gave up on the storytelling, because its too much of a mess, way too slow paced and absolutely non consistent. Your commentary makes it watchable for me 😂

nah this ep deserves some complaining lmao it's honestly a little annoying/frustrating atp they are really dragging this on unnecessarily and blowing issues out of proportion but like even worse than usual because they had more space to fill than they apparently knew what to do with at the time. i'm all for some fluff but like they had so much time they could have made this show way more interesting and explored the characters backstories and given more context for the way the characters are acting especially peem. anyways idk what the writers and director were trying to do with this one. it's like they are saying a lot of words but not making full sentences. if they were going to do this they should have made it 12-13 eps. i guess we'll see what they do with the last few but i'm not holding my breath lol. i know a lot of people will say "well that's just how these shows are don't try to understand" but actually i have some standards and always hope for more because i think it's possible. i still enjoyed it in general tho i like the characters enough to see it through to the end. anyways this reaction made me laugh so many times thank you. the "what is this harry potter ass music" made me laugh so hard 🤣

In my opinion they should just make it a 12 episode coz somehow the story doesn’t connect anymore 🙄 i do like fluffy stuff but it’s getting annoying sometimes thinking that this series made out of more more more fluffy stuff and so on I’m so disappointed. Actually the only thing I really want to watch is the story of Toey and Q the rest is so repetitive.

Omg its getting tiring for me, its just me, or FangTan and ChainPun actually became the most interesting ones tho, i like the other couples but its dragging too much, like, one thing that get me mad, its like, Toey and Q are literally together has been 3 episodes, but the characters act like they don't know it, and need to show it, so here we go again with a lot of unnecessary scenes of them actually revealing that they're dating, something extremely obvious, while the other couples that actually are really more interesting, got a little development, like come on 16 ep of Phum and Pheem slowing down like turtles, it got on my nerves, and its sad because i liked the show a lot at the beginning, and i love PhondPuwin too, sorry if it sound rude and all, but im so tired already, if you not gonna develop Chain and Pun, end it with 12 EP as normal, its just too much unnecessary scenes and drama

@@humam9189 I do understand that the other 2 are the main couples, but come on, Chain and Pun had like 1 to 2 minutes screentime every episode, it's frustrating, GMM really don't know how to share it to all couples, if you watch My Secret Love, it has 4 couples too, but end up developing all of them equally, and it was 12 EP, I wish they did that on We Are, but since we are almost to the end, I already lost my hope to get anything of ChainPun, they will probably left a hint or just randomly get together at the end, GMM love to do shit like this

And the acting "dumb" is really more pathetic than comedic at this point...
