What a delight. I hope the Philarmonic does this for EVERY instrument not just section.

Ms. Allen grew up in Wyoming so it's no surprise that she's a horse lover.

What do harp and bike have in common? Answer: pedals. However, Nancy chose to ride a horse, which we really like.☺♪♫

I was lucky that I sat close to the harp, to the left of the stage. In Schoenberg's Ervartung opera (Waiting), the harp part plays an important role; and it was interesting to follow the harpist, who now and then laid the tape between the strings, then took it out. I haven’t seen this before. But this is not "sordini", but a change of timbre: a wet sound becomes like either gnashing of teeth, or tapping of dried bones, which gave an even greater horror of the scene in the dark forest ... The conductor noted Nancy Allen with a special gesture of gratitude.
