In my native Scottish Highlands, as recently as the 1950s, fishermen and sailors would visit the local wyrdwife to ask for favourable winds and luck with the fish. In the NorthEast particularly, so called "superstitions" still exist (such as the unlucky albatross or spitting over the side to let the sea recognise you). Magic hasn't gone away. But our connection to it, our immersion in it, is being lost. Like so many things that once enriched living. It's entirely our loss.

Thank you so much for making and sharing this film honouring those ancestors who were tortured and killed before us.. I have done much healing and research and continue to do so around the witch trials that happened on the land known as Britain. I had no idea and the under estimation of the persecution and trials that went on in that time period throughout Europe I guess we will never really know the extent of it and of the legacy it leaves today. How is it that the cultures that spent hundreds of years fighting over religion is now among the most religiously tolerant, albeit, youngest, places on earth? Older polities have become less tolerant of religious (and moral) diversity. Human kind is just strange that way. There was nothing pragmatic about the hundreds of years of bloodshed. No gains were made, only death accomplished.
