2 weeks ago, Mo, Donnavan, and Isaac spotted me walking down Main street in LA. I was wearing my The Deep 3 (tm) hat--something that they appreciated--but, to my detriment, I happened to be wearing my "LeBum James x Michael Jokedan" t-shirt. To make a long story short, I was violently jumped. Mo yapped my ear off about how inappropriate my shirt was and about how uneducated, misguided, and--I'm quoting here--"not even funny" my attire was. Isaac pulled out his phone (which seemed to only have one app for the sole purpose of opening Basketball Reference) and proceeded to spend the next 5 hours reading and detailing all the stats for the full careers of both Michael Jordan and LeBron James; at some point, I believe he tried to make some sort of point, but to be honest, between Mo and Isaac's mix of roast and stats I was completely lost. That being said, there was someone else... I... I can't even describe it. The vitriol in his words was something I've never experienced, NAY, nobody has ever experienced, I'm sure. The things Donnavan said to me on that fateful day... I can't make myself write it. It was pure, unadulterated hate. It would be traumatizing to even read. To put it mildly, I learned several new slurs for people with non-standard NBA takes. After they completed their violent onslaught of harassment and torturous commentary, they proceeded to tell me to subscribe to the channel and leave a like if I'm watching on KZbin, and rate and share if I'm listening on another audio platform. Their voices were almost cackles as their bodies contorted and fused into a being beyond comprehension. Dark feathered wings sprouted from the back of the monster and it flew away. As I lay there, dumbfounded and disturbed, I heard words in the distance spoken in a voice that was less than human: "you are my sunshine, be like Mike, you are my sunshine, be like Mike, you are my sunshine, be like Mike..."

My crazy NBA take is that Brian Scallabrine has the best pound-for-pound aura. We exclude MJ from the aura convo because he just is too good. But Scallabrine is so "bad" at basketball yet has an insane aura. It elevates discussion of him far more than any other player's aura, since it's always proportional to their talents. MJ's aura made him a basketball god but the White Mamba's aura reminds us that we, as fans, are less than the worms in the basketball world

“I don’t want to disrespect Steph Curry” followed by hardcore disrespect to Steph Curry as if The Lakers didn’t move heaven and earth multiple times to get god squads around Kobe, some of which absolutely failed, whereas the only things the Warriors did to help Curry was sign Durant and Iguadola 5-10 years ago.
@DeseanMccullough-vm9zpАй бұрын
Kobe has never had a “god squad” after shaq left
@Muzza858Ай бұрын
@@DeseanMccullough-vm9zp The Lakers put Steve Nash, Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol around Kobe Bryant, which was their attempt at a 17-18 Warriors. There is no way you don’t view that as a God Squad, because that was the view of that team before it utterly failed.
@AzureKiteАй бұрын
@@Muzza858 Yeah there is some revisionist history at play here. At the time, getting Steve Nash and Dwight Howard alongside Kobe was supposed to be a Big 3 on the level of miami's Bosh, Lebron and Dwade. It failed mostly because Nash got badly injured and Kobe hated Dwight Howard, so people look back on that team and don't think of it as a god squad, but it was *supposed* to be.
@juancharley3203Ай бұрын
@@Muzza858key word is it was supposed to be a god squad but in reality it wasn’t anywhere near that. Steve Nash was not the same player as he once was at all, Dwight Howard was not mentally ready for Kobe and it was the start of his downfall of his career, and Pau was already old at that point and not the same. As somebody that watched damn near every Laker game that season, that team was terrible and only made the playoffs due to Kobe’s clutch games. This was also the year Kobe tore his Achilles before the playoffs by the way. No hate on Steph but let’s stop cap yall
