At around 36:00 he was talking about how online worlds were such a break from normal reality in the early days of the Internet. I'd totally forgot the feeling from that time.

The intro is something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. The lack of our brain’s ability to be aware of so many stories at once

Mahalo nui from TM's island home❤. Terence slept in a tree house in my neighborhood (Waipi'o Valley) years ago. I convinced the owner to let me too, on the grounds of my being a "student" of his and my wanting to do what I could to learn more about him and "where" his teachings and points of view came from. That was 15 years ago. I now live full time in Waipi'o Valley not far from that treehouse and am still on the path.

I remember reading something about how birds (not exceptismart ones, like chickadees)communicate and thinking that's how you communicate on LSD (I've only taken clean acid, except 1 trip on morning glory seeds that had a rough hangover), it's: "I am here, where are you?" And the answer that comes is: "I am here, where are you?"

Thank you Danit, the first 1 minute plus could be a tape loop report of our current fall into modernity. I look forward to listening to it ☮ I do now remember this interview by the San Francisco’s PBS station and it was such a waste of an interview by the asking of an anti-drug fear and paranoia induced interviewer. Terence does a wonderful high-wire walk of talking and modulating the interviewers fear by use of language as transducer of anxiety. What Terence McKenna would say today, twenty-five years later, we can only imagine. But I do hope the questions by a different interviewer would be better. The phone in questions certainly helped a bit. The interviews and book ‘Terence McKenna, Rupert Sheldrake, Ralph Abraham: The Evolutionary Mind Trialogue (three volumes)’ are easy find. ☘

Terence was never able to forsee the takeover of the Internet by the dominator culture. There was a brief period where it was great. Not so much anymore.

Yes, this was a big blind spot for him & most others. His utopian hopes for connected technologies did not pan out! Instead it went the way of Orwell

But he did. He mentions it as a possibility in his book Food of the Gods: “Those who are on the demonic side of this process [technological development] are fully aware of this potential and are hurrying full tilt forward with their plans to capture the technological high ground. It is a position from which they hope to turn nearly everyone into a believing consumer in a beige fascism from whose image factory none will escape.” It’s true that he didn’t mention this risk a lot in his talks, but I like to believe that Terence was an optimist in that regard.

It's not what Terence had in mind, for people to be listening to his material while on mushrooms. He once defined evil as "to trivialize a mystery". But I see it's become a trend. May you feel refreshed upon waking! 💖
