This was my first KZbin Pokemon series I've ever followed in real time, from beginning to end. I am honestly surprised at how sad I am that it's over. Archeops generally does outspeed, since it's base 110 while Salamence is base 100. I don't think they knew Mence would outspeed until that turn. Even then, what if Meowstic T-Waved him? Yawned? Set up Reflect, took a hit, hit back and Ludicolo cleaned up with it? Or if Ludicolo had Ice Beam / Icy Wind? Would've surely been over, plus, they *were* under the impression Meowstic had Reflect.

But it was about not taking a hit from Archeops at all, to be healthy enough to handle 2 other mons in the back on 1 side. If Archeops outsped (which was most likely), the game was over. Even if you survived, taking that damage would essentially solidify your loss. On the other hand, by taking the 50% confusion chance targeting into Meowstic, you *practically* guarantee the win after winning the coin flip. Otherwise, you'd bank on them being slower (unlikely), or not hitting themselves (50%), on top of Meowstic hopefully not having Reflect/T-Wave as a support mon, and Ludicolo not having Ice Beam/Icy Wind. Or Meowstic + Ludicolo simply dealing enough damage with other standard attacks. Meanwhile, this scenario just banks on the 50%, maaaybe with a chance for Ludicolo still winning with Icy Wind, or max roll Ice Beam (unavoidable). In hindsight, we know they were somehow slower *and* lacked any good moves on Frank's side to take the win, as well as the fact that they'd ultimately win the coin flip. But with that aside... I can't really fault it.

Hey there, guys! This was a great series overall and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Watching this series sparked an idea in me. I don’t know whether or not something similar has already been done and I apologize in advance if it has but hear me out. I call this “Pokémon Sabotage Soul Link Randomizer Nuzlocke”, which is a 2v2 Soul Link Randomizer Nuzlocke in a team doubles format where Player A1 of Team 1 is Soul Linked with Player A2 of Team 2 and Player B1 of Team 1 is Soul Linked with Player B2 of Team 2. Here, rather than helping each other in a usual Soul Link Nuzlocke, they try to sabotage each other. For example, in the first pair: Player A1 of Team 1 tries to sabotage Player A2 of Team 2 and vice versa. Same for pair 2 as well. Here are some rules that may be implemented for this: General Rules: 1. Core Nuzlocke Rules: It will follow the standard Nuzlocke rules (normal or hard). 2. SoulLink Rules: Will remain mostly the same with some stuff modified: o Team 1: Player A1, Player B1 Team 2: Player A2, Player B2 o Soul Link Pair 1: Player A1, Player A2. Soul Link Pair 2: Player B1, Player B2. 3. Sabotage Mechanic: o Players can sabotage their Soul Link partner using in-game challenges such as:  Battle Challenges: Setting up battles against strong trainers or challenging Gym Leaders at inopportune times (i.e., in Gen 9 a.k.a Pokémon Scarlet and Violet).  Item Restrictions: Forcing their partner to sell or avoid using items (any) for a designated time frame which can be done using a randomized penalty wheel.  Nuzlocke Handicaps: Adding random conditions, like temporarily or permanently benching the strongest Pokémon or using a randomized penalty wheel.  Catching a weak Pokémon intentionally or killing your Pokémon so that it hampers your Soul Link partner. But please note that this rule will also negatively affect your own Team as well, potentially ending your run (?). o Direct interference with gameplay via outside methods (e.g., tampering with save data, etc.) is strictly prohibited. 4. Point System: o Winning an online double battle after each Gym earns 1 point for the victorious team. o Winning an online double battle right before the Elite Four awards 2 points for the winning team. o Winning the final online double battle after the Champion fight earns 3 points. o If a player reaches the end with all Pokémon intact (without fainting), their team receives a bonus point. o The Team with the most amount of points by the end wins. Battle Rules: 5. Multiplayer Battles: o Standard format with level caps based on the current Gym Leader's highest level. o No duplicate Pokémon or held items across a team. o Legendary or mythical Pokémon are limited based on an agreed-upon limit. 6. No Cheating Clause: o Randomizer settings must be agreed upon and locked in before starting. o No external cheats, editing, or intentional exploits of game-breaking glitches are allowed. 7. Communication Rules: o Players must be in a call or chat at an agreed-upon interval to strategize and potentially “negotiate” sabotage. o Trash-talking and banter are encouraged but must remain respectful. 8. Tie-Breaker: o In the event of a tie at the end of the tournament, a sudden-death double battle will determine the winner. Each team picks two Pokémon from their surviving roster for a final showdown. Optional Rules for Enjoyment: • Random Events: A random wheel with penalties and bonuses for a more unpredictable experience. • “Betrayal Tokens”: Each team can earn one "Betrayal Token" per Gym completion, allowing them to temporarily swap one rule or interfere with their Soul Link partner's plans for one session. Note: • Keep a record of all battles, points, and major gameplay decisions for transparency. • You can consider balancing or changing the rules if any party is consistently at a disadvantage, with a mid-tournament meeting for feedback. And, as for the subtitle of this series, it can be something like this: “The Soul Link Nuzlocke that puts your Friendship on the line?!?”

33:40 I don't fully understand what happened there but from what I can speculate Rich and KDawg encountered some form of glitch where they had a communication issue and the game tried to reconnect them however in the time it was taking to reconnect the command timer was still counting down despite the fact that they were not connected to the battle. So by the time they reconnected the command timer had run out and the game just auto selected moves for them. I think I might've encountered something similar in the past when I was doing X&Y battles. Either way GG WP to everyone and congratulations to the winning team! What an amazing series it's been a hot minute since I've watched a CageLocke was such a nostalgic feeling. (Think I was probably like 18 the last time I watched a series like this.) You can tell from the music that Frank's game is slightly sped up which is what probably caused the desync after enough time.

For such a wild final battle, that was amazingly close and super epic. Great job to everyone! And... [SPOILERS]: LET'S GO, TEAM STIIIIIIIIIIICKSSSS!!! ALWAYS A BELIEVER! Frank and Kdawg both did amazingly to deserve that win, and I'm glad that Frank ended up playing a lot bigger of a role in the later battles (early Pikachu era was rough for him, lol). The support he offered that fight was huge. Still, with all that in mind... I've gotta call Kdawg the MVP of her 1st cage-locke series, for sure. The Crobat OHKOing Mega Mewtwo had to be a roll, calcing it out of curiosity... dunno IVs or anything, but that could've went either way. Thrash from Archeops could've been 3 turns rather than 2, but at the same time... this was the last main-series game to have 50% confusion rate. It really was a coin flip. What a wonderful comeback for Team Mew, though. Vinny & Rich were definitely the underdogs for most of the series, but by the end, that was no longer. And it was a nail-biter of a finale they could've very easily won, had things just went a little differently. Rich did fantastic for his 1st cage-locke, too. Made good calls, dealt with rough situations, and rolled with the punches the whole way through. And Vinny has 1000% improved so much as a battler! Super valuable teammate throughout this series. You all absolutely killed me laughing, had me on the edge of my seat, and feeling your pain throughout this entire series. What an awesome ride. Look forward to more from 151! 💙

Especially considering how much he's improved personally, this was far from "abysmal play." These things play into what I mean when I say "all things considered." Either you think they generally play at a far higher level than they actually do (they don't, and it's not that serious), or you think this game was played *especially* abysmally bad relative to other battles played by him. I'd be pretty confident in saying you're wrong in both regards, based on everything I've seen. But we can agree to disagree.

SPOILERS The correct play would have been Salamence using dragon claw into archeops instead of banking on it hitting itself. You were faster. Get rid of the threat, archeops probably has a rock type move. What's ludicolo and meowstic doing to a salamence? Not very much. That said, great battle guys, it was a fun series to watch. To be honest, I feel like maybe y'all should run it back because of the glitchyness in the middle there. It would have been a different battle with gardevoir still on the field. EDIT: Also, the mega swampert having protean changed the match quite a bit as well, I don't think you could 1 shot the kyogre without it, even with a crit.

I agree, there were also many other questionable decisions from their side. Vinny marking Meow the bigger threat than Primal Kyogre. Setting up speed control too late. Sending Mewtwo vs Crobat. And of course banking on a confusing proc when Frank only has support/mid mons left is the biggest throw. Not to speak from a hindsight/viewer point of view, but the choices they made were not just the wrong ones looking back, but objectively the incorrect play overall.

I'm not sure either, it depends on if Galvantula attacked swampert and if swampert's protean glitch worked or not If Galvantula attacked Gardevoir it'd be dead next turn no matter what but if not it would've lived at least 2 more turns and meowstic would've died If swampert didn't use EQ still

Last series and Vinny had to throw it all due to fear of screens and not killing the orca on turn 1 and 2

There was no way to know what Frank had on the meowstic and they were afraid of screens being set up over the damage orca could do. Your thought is a hindsight thought ... also last? Latest? Yes, but last? The only "throws" were the accidental eq that killed a teammate when a waterfall (which is what he wanted) could have preserved that second slot and the not going in on archen for the 1v1 ... but he knew not about pixelate so it was a coin toss with their play there.

Vinny, van you please do a cage lock series against Rich please? You guys are seriously amazing. I think you both need to get some practice in battling like this. you had alot of misplays and i think you guys realize this. i understand theres alot of pressure and you panick way too much which i think is why you misplay so much. that very last turn if you killed the archeops it would have been a 1 V 1 but against the 2 weak mons. You guys do play great when you dont panick. Also Bug type does not resist Fairy, Fairy Resists bug. I apoligize if this advice is alittle offensive, i'm just trying to help because you are my favorite Poketuber and i want you to win everything! Have a great day. Cant wait for your next project.

I know I'm quite late but in official vgc tournaments each player gets to choose the positioning of their lead pokemon. Of course it makes it harder to predict your opponents lead positions but you can just change either one of your pokemon into an impostor one and that way get to choose what you want to copy.

dirt said both stench, poison touch, protean, and shell armor depending on the POV. thats probably what caused the midgame issues, mega swampert had 4 abilities at once
