We Banjo 3 - 'Open The Road' (Live at Merlefest)

This tune was written while sitting on a beach on the island of Okinawa in Japan. It came straight from head to paper-no instrument in hand-which always brings out a different type of tune. When we got into the studio, we found ourselves playing it over and over and over while we got it tight, and during this repetition the idea for this undulating track came out, giving the tune time and space to explore. We recorded this live all together in one room. It’s a track that nicely captures a moment in time, and the real beauty is that every time we play this one at a show, it’s completely different. We brought our great friend Ryan Molloy in on piano and keyboards to add some of his sparkly magic. - David Howley

I'm so lucky that I was at this concert! It was my first time seeing We Banjo 3 perform live. They certainly didn't disappoint! North Carolina can't wait to have y'all back!! Hopefully we'll see ya at Merlefest 2023!
