WE BEAT CHRONO TRIGGER! (Chrono Trigger Blind Playthrough Pt. 21)

WE DID IT! We finished Chrono Trigger and we beat Lavos!! Hope y'all are ready for the waterworks 💜😭 I had a great time with this game, despite the bosses being challenging, I love all the characters, thought the story was great and of course the music is incredible. I'm so glad I played it!

I know this video is 9 months old, but I just discovered your playthrough of this and binged it. I figured I'd tell you how much I loved watching you experience a game that I grew up with. Also, I may make you cry again: That music that plays as the group leaves and parts ways? The title translates to "Epilogue--To My Dear Friends". Somehow that title alone just... hits me.

Congrats on finishing the game!! I loved watching every video you posted on here, and catching it live when i could. I hope you play it more on New Game+. The lore is fantastic and it expands as you play different characters through different ages in the game, as new dialogue happens varying on your active party. Ayla for example gives a funny lecture to Marle when she finds the note from her mother hidden behind the Rainbow Shell. And if you are thinking that the ending gets easier to emotionally handle the more you play, it's actually the opposite, at least for me. Robo and Atropos holding hands in the future gets me every time, as does seeing Glenn take his hero's march across Zenith bridge and break stride to watch his friends in the distance. I find the finally gathering of all the friends at the end to be such a cathartic feeling of peace and somber. Around the same time you streamed live I had bought myself a custom music box which plays the same 12 second music loop in game when Robo is saying goodbye to Lucca. If you are curious I about it I posted it on reddit under my same username there if you wanted to search recent posts. If you do run the game again be sure to stream it and upload it. Tons of people have blind playthroughs but nobody has "first time doing New Game+" video's, and I bet your reactions would be amazing second time around as more things in the story start to click together.

One of the endings is beating the game, Lavos, without Chrono, Marle revives him on her own after at that tree. I played with a PS2 card that had multiple pages, I beat it all 12 different times, a save for each ending. (You just need to beat it at different points, not play it that many, and New Game+ helps.) I loved the time travel mechanic back then, still love this game. You can also crash your time travel ship into Lavos as a ending, instead of mom traveling through time, Marle's hair gets caught in balloons, and she floats away, causing Chrono to grab and hold her as they float through the sky, ending credits, and Epilogue music playing. (I like that ending bets I think)

I used Crono Frog Ayla and beat Lavos easily for the Crono still DEAD ending Frog Robo Ayla are the best party since the Silver Rock 3x tech is the only one that CAN damage the Left Pod against Lavos' 3rd form and not absorb its damage so can Poyozo dance the White rock tech can as well but its damage SUCKS.

Congrats on beating one of the best games ever made! You really destroyed the bosses this last time, what a difference a few levels makes! I love the twist that Lavos' Core isn't the middle one, it's the one on the right that looks exactly like the one on the left. Leave it to this game to make its final boss a puzzle fight like so many others! It looks like you missed talking to people on the first screen of the parade--Lucca's mom is there asking her husband to dance with her. That only happens if you saved her in Lucca's sidequest. The other changes to this ending that can happen based on what you do earlier in the game: -If you kill Magus instead of recruiting him, he doesn't appear in the ending, and instead you see Frog turning human. -I *think* (I can't remember for sure) if you didn't do the whole saving the forest-Lucca's past sidequest, that final conversation about the Entity doesn't happen. -If you take the Epoch to 1999 to fight Lavos instead of doing the Black Omen, there's a whole sequence where you crash it into him, skipping the entire first phase (the one with the attack modes). That means you don't have the Epoch in the ending, so the thing with Crono's mom going into the gate doesn't happen, and instead of the Epoch, Crono and Marle float around the world on a bunch of balloons. You still get the same scenes with the other characters in their times, but the Epoch isn't flying past in the background. The final cutscene is the name no matter which of those variants you get. I like the implication in this version that Frog turned human because he got kissed by a princess. That's how these things work, right? Personally I wouldn't bother with the post-game content. It was added decades later after almost everyone involved in making this game had left the company, and you can really tell--it's kind of slapped together and doesn't really fit with the rest of the game. There's a lot of retreading the same areas and fetch-quest type stuff that the rest of the game deliberately avoided. Plus IMO the original ending is a lot more satisfying without the "epilogue" cutscene you get for doing the postgame.

Somewhat obscure game these days but it's very much like a much more challenging and darker storyling Zelda: A Link to the Past (similar overworld map) crossed with high fantasy Nightmare on Elm Street. Also if you haven't played Celeste omg I'd kill to see your playthrough of that

While that could be true, he actually credits a lot of his inspiration for Undertale from Earthbound. ​@@katiecole19 Well, good news in case you didn't catch the Nintendo Direct a few weeks back as that was where it was announced: Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is getting released on Steam, Switch, PS4, and XB1 on April 7th. The collection is a remastered version of Chrono Cross, and it also includes Radical Dreamers, a visual novel that originally was not released outside of Japan that served as a basis for the story to Cross. Storywise, it picks up 20 years after the events of Trigger in the year 1020 AD in the El Nido Archipelago, an island chain to the south of Zenan/the Kingdom of Guardia. Yes, the game explains why you never saw these islands in Trigger. Without diving into spoilers, if you have not done so yet, reload your original save file that was used to defeat Lavos. There was originally one final anime cutscene added in the 1999 PS1 port, but has since then been shifted until AFTER you clear all of the Dimensional Vortex quests. These quests were added to the postgame in the 2008 DS version and have been in all subsequent versions since then. If memory serves me, the quests add five new bosses. Clearing all the Vortexes unlocks a new travel destination accessed directly from the End of Time. When you attempt to use the bucket that normally leads to the Day of Lavos, you should then have the option to go to Time's Eclipse. It is there that you'll fight the true final boss of Chrono Trigger. The cutscenes following this boss fight tie directly into Cross. As for Cross itself, the two semi-spoiler things I'll say is this: you'll have a choice early in the game to recruit one of three characters as a guide. This choice will lock out the other two until a New Game Plus playthrough. Trust me: you'll want to take Guile as the guide. You'll find him in the Temina Bar. The other thing is that early in the game you'll get an option for a branching story point to go on a quest to find an item needed to save one of your characters that was injured in the storyline (funny enough, it's right after you recruit Guile and do that subsequent dungeon run). While video game logic would tell you to say yes, you'll actually want to say no. Saying yes actually locks you out from recruiting a character that is a descendant of a Trigger character, and quite possibly the strongest character in the game aside from the main character (assuming you do his sidequests that is) Just keep one thing in mind as you play Cross: due to Akira Toriyama not being involved with Cross, character designs in some instances are going to look wildly different. It's something you'll need to bear in mind regarding a few characters in particular.
