What's a good later model Toyota factory auto gearbox to replace the a340 that can handle similar if not more power and torque?

Unfortunately there isn't anything to replace the a34x gearboxes from Toyota. Building one is your best bet but it will still eventually fail. Golebys have been experimenting with putting ZF 8hp gearboxes in them. I think they have had success with this. Also 8 speeds so good for cruising/ daily duties.
