That GSX was my 1st Sea Doo I ever owned! I loved that machine. I even had that exact same trailer. I sold mine to buy a brand new 1998 GSX Limited. After that I eneded up with a 1999 XP Limited that was on a double trailer with a 1997 SPX. I sold the SPX and got a 2016 RXPX300, that one sank when the carbon seal failed. I replaced it with a 2017 RXPX300. Now I have a 2024 RXPX325. I currently have the 3 machines in my garage, the 1999 XP limited, which has a new crate engine from Sea Doo, I have e the red 2017 RXPX300 and the new RXPX325. I still love seeing those GSX models though. They all offer a different experience. Thanks for the great videos guys!

Between this channel and the FB groups, I’ve learned so much about restoring my “new” 96’ XP. Huge thanks for making such awesome and well produced content. Few ideas that I would’ve loved to watch before attempting: Fuel sending unit repair, VTS module replacement, Rave Valve install, oil injection line priming

Back in 2018, I put a SBT engine in my 1995 GTX. A 657x. The original engine had low compression after 23 years of use. I rebuilt the carbs, new oil lines, fuel lines, new impeller and wear ring. Now I can run 45mph in that GTX all day long. It's been very reliable the last 6 years. Biggest things with these 2 strokes is keeping the carbs clean. Run good fuel, oil, and spark plugs.

I also have a 96 GSX 787 and we did buy one for my Buddy on the 6. January . It is an almost mint ski,and after taking it home and connecting it to a battery our jaws dropped,we knew it was parked in a garage 15 or so years ago,but we didnt know how much hours it had. After the battery connect it says 18.5 hours. 🤗

I have restored a GSX was my first ski back in day. Love the shape Seadoo was always ahead of the game. Only thing I did wrong couldn’t get the seat right purchased a cover with the writing already on it and never got it straight. After seeing your videos I’m going to redo it and paint them on. Love the content keep up the great work and great to see these companies getting involved as parts getting so hard to get especially in Australia

If you want a good motor build it yourself! That's my suggestion especially 717 & 787 very easy to build with just the manual an very little mechanical know how. Great videos though.

This is a really cool idea and will be a great series to watch, thanks Nick x2 for doing this. I'm curious to see how the SBT starter holds up as I've read countless reviews that they are poorly rebuilt with inferior parts and will last weeks/months. I have rebuilt a lot of OEM starters converted to the 8 tooth drive gear/bendix with quality rebuild kits with great results but its getting harder to find reasonably priced used OEM starters these days.

I could of replaced my Seadoos engine with a SBT but after hearing all the horror storys decided not to. I ended up following your 787cc rebuild videos instead. What i ended up with was a great learning experience and a good running engine 👌
@TodayWeWrench Жыл бұрын
Glad we could help. This is our first time having a SBT engine in the shop. We aren’t getting paid, we aren’t getting promoted by them, and we get nothing from potential sales. We’re simply doing it because we were approached to be “sponsored” by them and we said “we will do it but it will be testing products, not pushing them.” We started this channel to help people like yourself and will always stay true to that. I think some people are seeing this as “selling out” it’s certainly not. Again glad we helped you rebuild an engine and learn. We hope to do that many times over on this channel.
@angelon7095 Жыл бұрын
@@TodayWeWrench I don't think you guys are selling out. Never crossed my mind. Honestly, I'm sure A LOT of people swap these SBT motors in incorrectly giving them a bad reputation.

@ripptydevibes2581 Жыл бұрын
Oil injection should ALWAYS be preserved. Injection runs cleaner, safer and technically should make more power too. The only reason I deleted mine was when I built my custom jetjon, there was nowhere to put the oil tank below the deck and still get good gravity feed, got air bubbles and said NOPE. But jetski guys, KEEP that injection. Who wants wide open oil at idle??
@TodayWeWrench Жыл бұрын
Agree as said in the video. The only reason to delete it is if its a race ski
@codyswartz997 Жыл бұрын
People arent rebuilding stuff correctly its a restoration process every line hose cable connection needs to be checked. Oil injection when maintained well is very reliable vs how people mix fuel wrong. I use SBT top ends and have use their engines in the past with out much of an issue. when time is on a crunch and i need a top end they are usually pretty good. again i think most people mess up in fixing the Root cause of the problem.

Well, I speak from prior experience with SBT I do know I had to send two motors back to back that I got from them back due to both of them having bad inner crank seals, and the reason I know that they were bad inner crank seals is because when I winterize my skis with antifreeze, by the way, when I came out in the spring, to look them over, my carburetors were full of oil, my hull was full of oil… these are some of the items that the consumer themselves cannot replace as you well know. I can say from my prior experience that I will never, ever, refer SBT to anybody.

"If you have anything in your ski that says SBT on it - stop the video - stop watching. We're not for you." -- That's quite a 180 we've done here. Interested to see the results. I actually don't care what they are - I'd still pay to have one of your engines. I've seen the work.

We were asked to work with SBT and prove out the product. Just like anything on our channel it will be no BS and we will tell it like it is. They know that and are willing to take the risk. Let’s give em a fair shake.

I can’t take it apart unless I have a failure. That would defeat the purpose. If it lets go I will do a disassembly video.
