I don’t think this was a fair test of this laptop. As it was just taken out of the box, widows was undoubtedly downloading updates and the operating system was also configuring itself for its new home on this machine, not to even ask if the drivers were the most recent and installed. Also was the bios updated and tweaked for optimal performance? These are things that should be done before a fair test can be run. I have a Asus ROG and my performance increased 65% after all the things I mentioned were done to it, and trust me 65% is huge.

I've had a look around the used market. I've seen some good gtx1060 laptops going for around $350 right now. I was tempted to get one for my niece, but I've got a spare desktop build we're giving her instead.

i did. i actually bought a preowned MSI GS43VR phantom pro 14" for exactly $350, minus shipping. It packed with 7700hq & 1060 6GB. Apart from completely dead battery & 95°c peak CPU temp, this thing is tiny beast. I am currently halfway in Horizon Zero Dawn averaging 50fps on High settings.

Hp victus is a great laptop. I got mine on Black Friday for $480 and so far it’s a very good laptop, can easily handle any games.

Pretty much the same although i found myself a legion 5 with an rtx 3060 for only 930€ brand new (hopefully will order it in a few weeks). In your case i would go for the ideapad gaming although the quality is inferior to the victus you can a 3050 version for +- the same price as a 1650 victus.

That laptop can perform better setting it at 25w, most likely this laptop was running at 15w. I got a Yoga 530 r5 2500u 16gb ram and i can play 1080p 60fps esport titles no problem at all only if i set it at 25w or 28w. You can use UXTU to set it and even some light overclock on the igpu

It'd kind of weird 6000 ryzen series weren't really that much faster than 5000 series cuz gpus where same in that time period but now u have not only faster cpu by Alooot , faster ram , way faster gpu with features that aren't available anywhere from Nvidea , who know what AMD laptop graphics would be .

You should try older titles like GTA III, SA and VC. Those aren't at all graphically demanding but are still games that can run GREAT on lower end systems, right?

So you can't fault the screen when it's incredibly dim UNLESS you keep it plugged in? I dunno, that's a pretty bad feature IMHO. I'm not liking that. It looks thin enough to use EMMC storage and have soldered on components. Looks kinda e-waste-y to me. My cat has a more powerful charging brick than that.
