Hey mate, i am an evo specialist and restore them, you have yourself a whole heap of trouble there on the underside. You can see the chassis rails need replacing, so just be prepared for that, likely rear sections of sills rotted too. Also, i'd recommend pulling the fuel pump out and checking the condition of the insides. If its been left for years with some fuel in it will likely be corroded and need replacing, new OE ones are still available to buy. Cleaning them out isn't an option.

I don't think those strut towers are going to make it either they look like they are done, if that much rust is visibile in the bay and under it, imagine how bad it's going to be when you start digging?. I rekon there's 300 hours work just to stabilise that car rust wise and basic mechanical stuff and a huge bag of money will be required. After that you could start thinking about resotring it. I'm not even sure it's worth the effort.....

@@TypicalBlue-rq8ri yes sure, not so many people would take the care and effort to try and protect their car from the corrosive climate here in Scotland, but I'm with you on that, it is defo worth the effort if you have a modern classic, the previous owner of this Evo obviously didn't bother their arse to even give it a basic spray of wax oil every year.

I’ve rescued a MY2000 Impreza turbo, saloon that got stood in 2008 at 8 years old almost because the keys got lost . The guy who owned it in 08 still owned it in 2022 hence why he just gave up because he couldn’t find the keys . I discovered the car was a rhd Dutch parralel import sold new by a car supermarket in y2k and as such no British key expert could get a key code or immobiliser number. I contacted Subaru Holland who couldn’t care less and said contact Subaru UK who told me to contact Holland, I then contacted Subaru UK again and moaned I’m getting the runaround and what am I supposed to do so I got out onto someone higher up in Subaru UK who told me the infos at the parent company they need to contact Subaru Japan . So after a load of chasing I had the codes and numbers and got a key easily which with a new battery ,plugs, fuel filter and oil change and filter the car started first time in 14 years . I took a massive chance on a 14 min maybe 16-17;year old cambelt not failing but wanted to check it ran before restoring the car and I even managed to drive it home from the garage that got it going. I purchased a waterpump and cambelt kit plus tensioners from ICP and can confirm my belt looked good, the pump too but the tensioner had seized and there was rust on the bearings so I’m glad I got that sorted out . Just a message to say what happens when a cars stood a long time and you chance it getting it going 👍
