Congratulations on the new property. Just wanted to point out a couple observations I had in this video. Do yourself a favor and buy yourself a pair of chaps and a helmet to go with that new chainsaw. The investment is less expensive than a trip to the emergency room. Believe me I know. Also it is not a good practice to cut in wooded land with oaks from April until the end of July due to possibly spreading oak wilt. Once oak wilt sets in, you run the chance of loosing a lot if not all of your oaks. Anyways have fun out there.

15 year wildland firefighter here...please get some chainsaw chaps and watch some @buckinbillyray videos on cutting trees down. Most of what you cut was small (they've been known to cost some teeth boys) The one bigger tree that hinged high is called a barber chair. If you cut a larger tree or one that has some defects that amateur fellers just can't recognize, that is a good way to die. The tree can violently move back to the stump. I have seen 30" diameter hardwoods move 5' in half a second. You read that lean wrong it can come back at you. Killed by a tree is a bad headstone fellas.

Nice Cabin! Looking forward to this falls content. I would also recommend a better chain saw. My first saw was a Ryobi and performance was terrible. I bought a Husqvarna and could not be happier with it. In a addition, always cut a front notch in the tree, it will prevent mid tear when felling trees. Be Safe Guys!

You should wait until early October, once the leaves just start turning, to cut the trees. They will have buds on them and the softwoods will have plenty of sugar in their leaves. The deer will really eat the tops of them once they hit the ground. I'm a forester by trade. Good luck with the cabin

Throw a little oil on that bar itself and roll the saw side to side, or loosen the chain some when it starts to stick. Some times that bar or inside the saw gets gum up. Pretty cool place
@8point7532 жыл бұрын
Aaron or who ever reads this from your crew. I'm no expert by any means. But when cutting with a chain saw. Wrap that thumb around that upper bar. At 3:27-3:28 ur left thumb is parrallel with the handle. Wrap it tight. So if u get a kick back you don't loose control. stay safe!

Nice place! I know you want to open your woods up. A little secret is cut the smaller trees roughly 3 feet high and about 3/4 the way threw and push them over. That way their down but alive and deer can still browse on them. Just an idea. Keep on doing your thing. Learned so much from THP!

Guys First off NICE 👍 CABIN!!!! Second you’re supposed to fill up THE CHAINSAW Full with Bar lubrication oil in the bar oil tank every single time you fill up with the gas ⛽️& oil mixture. 😂 Rule of Thumb in a 2.5 gallon gas ⛽️ Jug add 1 Bottle of 2 cycle oil gas mixture to 2.5 gallons of gas & 2 bottles to 5 gallons. I only use 2.5 gallon gas jugs for my chainsaws. Glad y’all got you a place to stay no more sleeping in vehicles and tents ⛺️. At least in that area when you’re gonna hunt. Congrats 🍾😁👍

Great cabin 👌. Putting down roots is good. I saddle hunt, public land hunt & climb trees & cut alot in the warm season. Too busy in March & April scouting & setting up deer spots. That's why I was 30 feet up today with sweat dripping into my eyes. I have a professional grade Stihl 14" saw for using up in 🌳 along with a 12" electric saw. Never gets too 🔥 for them. I was impressed that u put that Ryobi through all that & finished the day with it. The pro grade saws don't need as much of a rest as the regular saws do. I think u did well considering. Burn that area next March so u can get something growing in there. Should be interesting.

You may have over extended yourselves, but you guys did a lot of different things you don’t usually do. I know you guys learned a lot. It really goes to show that you can’t just go buy a tag, jump in the woods and be successful every time. Hunters and non-hunters should’ve learned from watching the videos as well. It not as easy as some people think. Most people don’t have the time to put in to really be successful. It also helps to hit the right time. There is a lot of luck involved. Nice place. Be patient, put the time in and I think you will be really surprised at how many deer you will harvest from that little piece land.

Your chain sounds tight, you can touch dirt or ground for a millisecond and it will dull your chain so much the saw won’t cut. When you get the tree on the ground do your down cuts 90 percent through all the way down the log. Than count ten cuts CAREFULLY cut all the way through roll the log over and finish your cuts coming up so you don’t hit the dirt. You can get chain sharpening tools, you’ll need it at first. Hope this helps a bit.
