Farmer on the Prairie is about my life on our central Illinois farm. My name is Seth and I am a young farmer with the desire to get things done and to keep the farm running smoothly. The farm is 740 row crop acres and 100 acres of pasture. We run about 100 grass-fed cattle and 1500 meat birds a year. Throughout my videos, you will get to know Dad, MommaD, and Sister. My brothers Josiah and Luke help us whenever there is a big project so they can feel important. Because so many different things happen on our farm, there is never a dull moment. With high fertilizer prices it's very hard to get any kind of chicken litter or chicken layer manure. Very nice spreader they are made just a few minutes away from my farm. Have a great weekend

The organic side is nothing like conventional agriculture as far as how we relate to each other as farmers. For example, I share all my research freely, keep my farm 100% open for anyone who wants to look around. The judgement and criticism isn’t a thing. We’re not competitors, even on the perishable produce stuff. 2 years ago, 3 other direct to consumer operations lost a lot of their sweet corn. Actually, neither of them are organic, but they are local and regenerative in nature. I kept them stocked as best I can, and didn’t make much of anything, because being available for consumers keeps them in the direct from the farm market. We need an industry to keep an active group of buyers. On the other hand, their are those who come along like parasites and want to set up across the road and make a living off the customers you have cultivated. A lot of times, they don’t even own land or grow the product. Basically, the 4 direct marketing operations will work together to blow them out of business quickly. If you want to find customers, produce a great product, the more the merrier. Scum bag gypsy cons, who are selling the exact same things sold at Walmart for more money based on the perceptions we have worked so hard to educate our customers about, no, we will crush you. Can’t wait to see how this goes for you.

Getting the litter is the hard part. Couple guys in my area have had contracts for it and went out and bought spreaders and the next year it just went to the next highest bidders.

Glad to see you taking more and more of the burdens for the farm.. I am sure your dad appreciates that as well. I like the looks of the spreader, have seen bigger, but as your dad said, takes a bigger tractor. You screwed around with your scrub a couple of times, don't know why you don just trim it and leave it alone. anyway glad you stepped out on your own and bought something the farm needs.
