People with no experience think a renovation should be quicker than a new build because the house is already there. They don’t realise that stripping, demolishing and doing remedial works whilst trying not to damage the structure you want to keep is slow, tedious and costly work. It’s why many of these old properties are for sale and at a reasonable price because not everyone has the stomach to tackle the project.

Omg instead of concentrating on my house, I fooled around with the yard and the lanai and the shed and then when the Hurricane hit and destroyed my garden and all the work i put into it, and took off my roof and ruined the one bathroom i HAD renovated, I really wished i had concevtrated on the inside of the house FIRST...Live and Learn. 🎉 😮

I'm sure there are days that it's easy for you to forget just how much progress you've made but videos like this one are a great reminder. You've worked hard, your gardens produced some impressive yields, the chickens provide eggs abundantly, and you expanded your growing space tremendously. Rescuing those lovely ponies, taking gates for walks, floating staircases, impressive driving skills, and squeezing everything from storage into one trip. It shows you're up for whatever the next challenge is. All while dodging weather you never expected, at the worst possible times and still you smile. You've learned a bunch along the way, gotten your exercise climbing Hillary and this year your dream home will emerge from all the endless mud and rubble. I am actually worried that you will finish too quickly. I'm from the US and always wanted to go to Ireland but I didn't know. I was so cold and damp and Wendy, but I guess you're kind of used to it from the u. K Americans like it warm and that's a windy. Although where I live in the u. S it's Oklahoma. We are very hot in the summer and lots of wind and tornadoes. But I do have Irish roots. I don't know how far back it goes. But it goes back pretty far. Some glad to see this show that you do. It's very impressive. You're doing a great job. I've been watching new shows from the very beginning and I love them. So keep strong. Keep. Healthy and it looks like everything's gonna work out for you. Great job, guys. Every different climate has its own challenges. We could do with a little extra temperature in Summer to guarantee good harvests of some of the heat loving crops. On the other hand, we don't have the extreme high temps with the droughts that go along with it in peak summer. Thanks for following along

Well done. Ireland is beautiful. Some of my ancestors came from there to here in England. At one point apparently some irish were living on 45 potatoes a day as it was such a successful crop once it was discovered in the USA and brought over. I love the work on the cottage and the wonderful garden. As a mother who bought ponies for daughters, I can certain testify to the bond between children and their ponies - so strong even today my adult one has recently bought horses again on her own land which her children and she ride. it is really important children get outside in the countryside, not just sit in towns inside all day. Well done.

If i were still younger, what you are doing, is exactly what i would have loved to have done. Also i would have done everything in the same order that you have done. Got the vege beds organized early-ish as that's your future food supply, then pottered on the cottage reno. I had wondered why you put the vege beds 'way up there', but yesterday , i watched a Q and A video that explained just why, due to the sun and the shading. The field where you would ideally have put the vege beds close to the cottage slopes 1 in 4, thats a big incline . I just had a thought, maybe in future, if you still have all that concrete rubble, that could be used to flatten out the close field making some kind of terrace / retaining wall for some veg beds for things likes salad greens. You've probably thought of that already! Im in awe of you, you are so funny and so positive! that

Ok, this may sound stupid, but I'll suggest it anyway. Kayvan, can you build a sled? If you could build a big enough or long enough of a sled you could pull your materials in larger amounts rather than in backpacks. It's not the most ideal answer, but without a mechanical assist, it might be a good stop gap that works.🤷🤷🤷
