Күн бұрын

We just bought the biggest piece of equipment that we've ever owned! Join us for today's Equipment update episode as we give some background on our newest piece of equipment that we just purchased for our beautiful new 575 acre Southern Missouri homestead farm! Of course it is a used machine, it is a 2006 John Deere 655C crawler/dozer and it is the same machine that was used earlier this year for our land clearing project on our new Southern Missouri farm. Earlier this year we hired Trevor (who is featured in today's video) to do a mega land clearing project and this John Deere 655c crawler was one of the two machines that he used for the land clearing project. And after much thought and planning ahead we decided that this John Deere dozer would be a good equipment investment for our Missouri farm as there are so many land projects that need to be done, and I felt that this machine would eventually pay for itself down the road by putting it to use for land clearing projects, cutting new roads, making new food plot clearings and digging some new ponds as well as other land grading projects as well. So today Trevor is going to do an introduction and walk around video of this awesome earth moving machine and give me some maintenance tips as well as some instruction on how to operate this beast of a machine! And if you'd like to join me on how I learn to operate this beast and check out the land improvement projects that I have on the radar for it be sure to hit the like button, subscribe and hit that bell notification icon so that you get the new video land project updates! Thank you we appreciate ya! #kapperoutdoorsmissouri #johndere #johndeere655

I didn’t want to comment before you’d made your decision, Kap, but I have never bought a piece of equipment and not in the end felt it was the right decision. My last excavator I bought a few years ago has gone up quite nicely in value, plus the work I am getting out of it. I think you made a really good decision.👌🏻

I think so too! We're really looking forward to all the projects it'll allow us to do. Especially when this thing costs half the price of a new pickup truck and cost the almost the same as a new polaris ranger north star, it seemed like a pretty darn reasonable decision.

yes the front windshield isnt right, looks like he scewed holes in the frame to hold in plexy glass in . order a window and have a glass company put it in it will be cheaper. those key slots are fuses glass tube style and are sand filled ones fyi. lol theres no settings to change on the machine via in the cab. decel not declutch. those front pins for loader are also oil filled joints. The dip stick under the cab is the splitterbox its not the same fluid its gear oil 85w-140 Float directions: Push bucket float enable button (A) to enable bucket float operation. Push button again to disable bucket float operation. Push bucket float position button (B) on boom and bucket control lever to drop the bucket from a raised position to the ground. Bucket float is ON and bucket will follow the ground contour. The bucket float indicator will light when bucket float is ON. Push the bucket float position button again to turn the float position OFF. Bucket float indicator will dim when bucket float is turned OFF. to rasie the cab, theres bolt inside and outside the cab to take out Look up the duo code flushing procedure, im sure it needs done it flushes the cone seals out for the final drives. those big covers need to come off the track frames, its a maintence item and there are special hoses for it fyi.

Joe, don't let these guys discourage you, this unit will be fine for you as a hobby farmer. It's not like you are going to put 40hrs a week on it. If you do decide to change out the pads, there's aftermarket non oem pads that are a lot cheaper and will work for you. Make sure you ask around to find a good heavy equipment guy in your area, because you will need one at some point, even if it's just for maintenance. Make sure you put rodent bait in that thing, since you seem to have a issue, they love to nest in those.

Good question! Here is ONE issue financially.. So we maxed out our 10k cost share for fiscal year 24. So now we'd have to wait til July to get any cost share for ponds and clearings.. But I want to get after it soon! lol. I think I'll plan tactically because it would be so amazing to improve our land for wildlife and deer hunting, and get paid to do it!! Have a good weekend bud thank you

If that’s what you think, you have either never owned a dozer, or had no need for one, or didn’t buy it right, because your comment applies to things like boats and such, not dozers.

My two cents worth…… you won’t be happy with this machine. The 955 is built for loading trucks…. Your needs totally require a wide track dozer with a 6 way blade. You basically have bought a loader……not a dozer set up for actually grading and flipping out stumps…. You won’t be happy with what you have bought it will have serious limitations in the type work that you need to do. Give be a D6 or a JD750 w/6 way blade for your use.
@KapperOutdoors2.0
@KapperOutdoors2.0 7 күн бұрын
Well I have various reasons for picking this machine, I picked it because I believe it's a Jack of more trades that could be useful on my farm. There are projects where I'll need to move a lot of dirt, and this thing can do it. And this thing can also handle land clearing as well, where a dozer does not do nearly as well With taking out big hard woods. Not saying I wouldn't love to have a dozer with a nice blade though. But picking up this machine for the cost of a new polaris ranger, nor star just seemed to make perfect sense when i've been hiring it at two hundred dollars an hour.
@SecondGenClassics
@SecondGenClassics 7 күн бұрын
needed a dozer with blade not loader for land clearing imo
@KapperOutdoors2.0
@KapperOutdoors2.0 6 күн бұрын
Well after hiring many machines and talking with each of them, this highlifter is much better suited for land clearing than a dozer. Especially when it comes to mature hardwoods and oak trees, where you really need that elevated leverage to 'high lift' to push them over as opposed to a standard dozer blade that can only work on the roots and not maximize the leverage needed to push them over to save a LOT of digging time.

Well, a skid steer might be in our future as far as a sponsorship, but there's no way you can compare a skid steer to this machine. They are totally two different stratospheres. This machine can take out 60 foot oak trees in a heartbeat, a skid skid steer, can't even dream about doing that. This thing has a 2 and a 1/2 yard bucket on it. Now as far as moving dirt. Yeah, you can move dirt with A. Skid, steer, but it would be like five or six buckets to 1 bucket Full on this thing . To me it just made sense
