It was a noble initiative pairing a lower rated chess enthusiast with chess super GM's with whom we don't have a hope of playing . And to be frank , i thoroughly enjoyed the humorous philosophical commentary even though it was 2 in the morning . Also the games were fantastic with some major upsets . Carlsen lost to an IM , Dubov lost to Gothamchess and Hikaru lost to Eric Rosen . Sincerely wishing the next tournament will be a humongous success for which we can assume that this edition was a trailer . Agadmator and lichess deserve kudos for even imagining this type of tournament .

#suggestion for Agad: make a pre-tournament for unrated players. The top 1000 or whatever get to play in the tournament. This way you make it interesting for everyone, but you also increase the quality of the opponents for the GMs.
@user-yf1vj8ez3s3 жыл бұрын
I like this idea. You can make a U2000 qualifying tournament.
@akshay41073 жыл бұрын
Thats not practical. A 1500 can't magically beat a 2000 to play titled players. Only top rated players will qualify for the main tournament.
@livinglogically81803 жыл бұрын
@@akshay4107 but that doesn’t mean you don’t give a 1700 opportunity to beat a 2000. in the arena itself I’m 1700 and beat 2 2000+ opponents
@andreidinu73163 жыл бұрын
@@akshay4107 so if a 1500 can't even beat a 2000, why let him play a GM? You need to give the GMs quality matches, otherwise they won't come again. I get the wow factor for a 1500 to say he got his ass kicked by Magnus, but that's quite selfish and it doesn't help the tournament at all.
