The COT not having the restrictor plate is very intentional, it was in a season build update so there's no more restrictor plate for any superspeedway anymore (it kind of doesn't look like it because the racing does still behave relatively similarly just at different speeds) and that happened before iRacing Superspeedway was ever released, and also iRacing/Coca-Cola Superspeedway was made with the express purpose of having no restrictor plates.

With the DW12 Dave Judson and Myself held the fastest lap ever in iracing (2012-2013ish)which happened to be at Talladega it was run in an official race session. Dave and I ran the exact same speed. We were listed as #1 and #2 followed closely by Chuck Eisenbarth. Back then the drafting was crazy and we swapped back and forth with several drivers for the fastest lap thru out the race.

Hey Robert here nice video! I actually have my VRS data for my race lap and my lowest speed was 407.1kph (252.96mph). I got extremely lucky with a yellow with 8 to go. Other than having to crack the throttle once was a very good run. So light fuel and a spread out field on the restart was the recipe for success.

That’s awesome!! We pretty much had to do that all artificially, being on the qual set with a tiny bit of extra fuel added my lowest speed was actually 249 because we ran out of cars right at the end, but if not for that my bottom speed was 252.7 and that’s probably about where Andrew’s was at

I ran the IR18 at Talladega today and at that speed, avoiding wrecks is tough. I was coming into turn 3 and a car was sitting at the end of turn 4. I tried to brake and it went hard right, into the wall.

Fastest I've gone in a sim racing game is gt7 if it counts. There is a track called special stage route x which is essentially a speed test course that usually takes 5-10 mins a lap in normal cars. Using the tomohawk vison gran turismo concept car (as you saw the the fastest lap in simracing) you can have an over 400mph lap average. If you're talking real cars then you can modify some of the road cars to hit over 290 consistently and over 300 with nitrous.

We were in fact, zooming in those IR18’s. 😂 based on the avg speed, we were on the limiter around the entire track! And we did not have another lap with those engines

Love that you made this video. My fiends and I have been running the IR18 at Dega and we were constantly talking about the potential top speed and we would try during races to get as fast as possible. Our personal record during a race was 158. I guess we were close!

On NASCAR The Game 2011, I was going about 190 or 195 or so going into turn 1 when another car lag-bumped into me, and that sucker shot me up to 216. Scared the crap out of me! More than ten years ago, but I'll never forget it. I was a second off the lead car but was right there down the backstretch. Makes me wonder how fast I would have gone if I was going about 200 or 205 mph at the time of contact.

IndyCar's lap average speed is usually the way a 'fastest lap' is done - for example, Gil de Ferran's closed course world record of 241.428 MPH is the average lap speed over the 2 miles at Fontana.

For some reason, I only see 2 results for the ISS/COT combination when I look at the world records, but also in every other combination I tried, it says I don't appear anywhere in the results. Am I missing something somewhere?

In PCars2 with the Formula X using the KERS it tops out at 264 mph

433mph while pulling a wheelie in the Suzuki Escudo in Gran Turismo II... Something in my original copy of the game on my original hardware got corrupted and my escudo had 12,000 hp lol. max front downforce, minimum rear downforce on the test track, it wouldn't make a corner, but I started at the entry to turns 3 & 4, kept it around 250mph through the turns then went full bore into turn 1 and my max speed was 433 mph. This was 18 years ago lol.

The iR05 is considered “legacy content” which means that is no longer used in official races. The only way you can see it now is though hosted events. But to answer your question, it could be faster in a single car? But in tandem I doubt it’d be faster due to the drag

How did your COT lap have an average speed of 263 when your spedo says you topped out at only 262? is the iracing spedo not accurate? or is the system you used to calculate it not accurate? Am I missing something

@_peters6221 I just feel like it’s goofy to say his average speed was higher than his top speed, i mean that’s just wrong to me. But I’m not sure how accurate the iracing speedometer is so I’m not sure if you could use that. I also don’t know how to calculate that either. But we know that 263 isn’t 100% accurate right? Assuming it works by the middle of the track and not the actual line he was running. I’m not trying to be picky but I can’t help but feeling like these methods for defining average speed aren’t optimal

CART 1999 should be even faster. In AC it can do over 240 mph alone (probably around 255 mph), don't know how much more with drafting. Talladega is available in AC but only as a conversion from some other game. The car itself is based on Reynard 99I which competed in 1999 CART season.

If a timed lap or an average speed lap wouldn't be the same, iRacing could not offer the setting to switch between em. It's just an American thing. like feet, pound and cubit.
