I’ve been building one the past 2 months, threw almost 700 into it😂😂 almost done. 390cc engine with a torque converter which is gonna make it faster. Spent 250 on some nice slick racing wheels

Ahh I’m building my own at 11 years old, using my brothers old motor it needs a clean up , brakes, and some gas and it ready to go! Although the hardest part is prob gonna be getting engine onto the thing

I picked up a axle locally from a transmission shop. It was 1” keyed steel, I probably got like 3 feet of it then cut to size on the cart. For steering I ordered knuckles off of BMI karts

Thanks! Right now it just has a piece of 1” pipe for the wheels to ride on. I think we’ll probably just weld something up when we need a axle. I saw some kits offered on Amazon and Princess auto tho. Probably not a bad idea

It gets more expensive than you’d think. But really depends on the motor, and how much metal you need to buy. It was about $1000 to build a rolling chassis, then probably another $1000 to get it driving

We found ours on the curb by a bus stop. Just prowl around the train tracks / bus stop with a truck for 30 mins and you’ll find one. Although they do come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. We used a Walmart one

You definitely could make it out of wood. The nice thing about welding is there will be less flex in the chassis which makes the steering nicer. You can pick up a hobby welder for a couple hundred. Could be a great opportunity to learn!

It was all custom. Just search up basic steering linkages for go karts. There’s also go kart parts websites that will sell you steeeint knuckles and kits

This is awesome. Similar to a rabbit hole I have been down since I have a 7.5hp lawnmower that the deck is all rusted out but the engine is still strong. I have been researching how to mod it from a horizontal drive to a vertical drive that could power some wheels.

Kingpin welds to the kart and set the wheel caster and camber. Spindle bolts to the kingpin and pivots off the kingpin for steering and gives a place for the wheel to spin freely

I made a shopping cart go kart inspired by Kyle from Boostedboiz a couple years ago. I got a few videos of it on my channel, got the kart up to 79km/h (49mph) on the top speed run! It's got Brembo brakes from a Yamaha r6 but the engine was a cheapo snow blower that I got for a really good deal... Got some new parts for it though! I think I might be posting again soon. These are some great little karts to rip around and they look super cool!
