Our house in Oregon used to be heated by a standard resistance type electric furnace. A few years ago we replaced it with a heat pump similar to yours, also by Mitsubishi. The wiring to our panel went from an 80 amp 220 volt from the furnace to a 20 amp 110 volt for the heat pump. Our electric bill for that first month HALVED. Given the average savings on our electric bill, that heat pump will pay for itself in about ten years. Well worth the purchase!

Loved when the slider door was opened a crack and revealed the difference in the reading of the Blower Test. Sometimes ya wonder if these tests and certs are worthwhile. I can honestly say that this specific test can really offer a lot. Nice work, guys!!
@oldtimefarmboy617
@oldtimefarmboy617 Ай бұрын
According to what he stated in the video, they have to pass this test before the city will certify the building fit for occupancy. So they are definitely worthwhile. I have seen some videos where they had the house sealed in on the exterior. Then taped plastic on all of the windows and doors. Taped off everything that is designed to bring air into or exhaust air out of the building. Then set up what is basically a misting caulk system. Start the fan to pressurize the interior and start the caulk misting system. The system creates a caulk fog and the air carries it to every possible point of leakage no matter how small. And the caulk is designed to stick to the edges of the leak and start building up until the leak is sealed. I have heard that it will eventually seal up a 3/4 inch hole if run long enough.

It is a very impressive score, and even more so for a smaller space. The smaller the volume, the harder it is to get a good score. I'd say the biggest contributing factor was the zip system sheathing and the attention to the details when sealing penetrations. 😊 My biggest worry was the floor of the apartment, which wasn't included as part of the zip system, but looks like it didn't impact the score negatively. Congrats again! And I really like that you had it tested!

One thing you need to keep an eye on: humidity. We have a rather air tight house (we aeorobarrier'ed it) but in the summer, it got rather humid forcing us to lower the temperature to uncomfortable temperatures to fight the humidity through condensation. This year we installed a full house dehumidifier and what a difference in comfort. Something to consider for the main house. Regarding filters: make sure you always use 4" filters. I forgot what you installed.
