Love the video, it never fails to amaze me just how dedicated you guys are! To reduce some lag, if you have hoppers that have air above them but aren't picking up items (so only being passed items from other hoppers/chests), place composters on them. By having a container block on top of them, the hoppers will not check for items (create to ImpulseSV for teaching me this one :) !)

Great vid as usual, the base looks amazing. After loading the world, i got a fews concerns though about the lag. I think if i remember correctly the lag in your old base was one of the reason to start over in 1.18. Not sure if you guys use optifine and shaders (outside the videos). Switching to sodium could help a lot, but i think the core of the issue is in the sorting design. You could get rid of 2 rows of hoppers that go around the whole build and use a water stream instead and this will help a ton for lag. You also could use barrels instead of chest too, (i did one chest and one barrel, this save me a ton of chest and i still have 3 single chest of storage space). The third row you could get rid of is the one that's make the chest closer on the top (its not the worst one since its only for the top and its not as big as the other ones). About the water stream, it is possible that items could despawn if your base is too big, to solve that you could use a dolphin to interact with the blocks and reset the despawn timer (cubicmetre talk in detail about it in is ''How Dolphins can upgrade your Storage System''). Lastly, if you do none of thoses changes you could put composters on top of every hoppers. Only issue is you guys did the biomes on top of it, so you will have to redo it somehow. If you guys see this or someone else, i hope i could help and keep up the good work !

I'd love to see a breakdown of how you're storing items. How do you group them together? Which ones do you manually sort vs auto sort. I'm building a large storage facility and I'm tearing my hair out over the organization. Do you have a doc you can share?

You probably decided already. But if you do it by block shape and then type of block inside that category it helps a lot. So like do all the stone blocks, then deep slate ones, then wooden pens, then do all the slabs starting with stone slabs then deep slate slabs then wooden slabs etc.
@joshthewritersmith
@joshthewritersmith 2 жыл бұрын
@@GOATexp Yeah, I ended up doing something similar. I've decided the next time I do it, I'll mostly just do block types. It's a bit messy lol - Thanks!

Hey, I can recommend some mods that are helpful if you are still interested: Gnembon‘s mod: (Mojang employee) Carpetmod (for stuff like testing for reliability or noclipping); Masa’s mods: Litematica (Shows blueprints/ material lists of any schematic you’ve downloaded or made with the tool), Minihud (Shows helpful information in a „mini F3 screen“ or overlays stuff like light levels), Tweakeroo (Tons of tools (flexible block placement, freecam, infame autoclicker…)), Item Scroller (better inventory management)

i really like the build itself and understand that for a lot of people this storage concept is more than enough so i'm not gonna go over shulker based storages or efficient inputs. But please, at least use water streams instead of hopper chains for item distribution. Not only you'd waste less materials building it, but you'd also make it so much more lag friendly. It's ridiculous that after all this time playing minecraft in a technical way you guys still don't realise how much lag comes from open and unlocked hoppers. It doesn't come from the redstone dust. It only updates by one signal strength on 3 pieces at a time and at a very low frequency. It's ALL coming from that hopper chain that distributes items!
