I hope you enjoy this video, and have as much fun watching it as we had making it! This was not only a marble run, it was a GraviTrax building event with over 40 people!

Yes, true. It was very nice. For me it was a lot of organizing work up front, and a lot of directing on the day of the event, so I didn't fully appreciate it until watching the video footage afterward.

What a cool record and what a lot of work. 😬But super cool to see how you built it and also broke the record.👍👍
@BukuiZhao3 ай бұрын
I’m pretty sure the reason why the marble derailed just after 160 meters is probably because you used a thin fast rail just after a magnetic cannon. I’ve found that when I use the thin rails at points where the marble is very fast, the marble has a very high chance that it could just fly off the rail as the thin rail provides very little stability. The marble could probably have made it to the end if that wasn’t the case. Good job!
@MaskedMarble3 ай бұрын
You are absolutely correct. We originally did not have the cannon there, and were using scoops which are gentler, but there were some headwinds that picked up and the marble was rolling to a stop in certain areas of the track. After so many failed attempts, and it was getting hot, I was feeling rushed and not thinking straight when I told them to add some magnetic cannons in that location. I learned that day that magnetic cannons are not tame. The marble shoots out of the cannon like a wild horse 🐎 out of a chute. I filmed magnetic cannons afterward in slow motion, and saw that at first the marble careens all over the track until it settles down a bit. So now I no longer use a thin rail right after a magnetic cannon. The marble needs something to "corral" it until it loses some of its wild energy.

@@MaskedMarble Yeah I understand when building outdoors there are lots of unpredictable factors that could affect operation like wind etc.

Did all the neighbours help? 😅 Great Idea - and a lot of baseplates...
@MaskedMarble2 жыл бұрын
We live in a large community, so this was only a handful of my neighbors. It was mostly families whose kids I had taught in GraviTrax Kids Club. Yes, I had to use almost all my baseplates. Afterward I had to clean each one… 😰 still working on that. 😆

Nice track. I saw How the base boards curve on the side walk. What if you made a line of base boards so long they formed a circle?

Part list? >:D
@MaskedMarble2 жыл бұрын
I know your question is probably joking, but yes there was a parts list. See column T of this spreadsheet. It was only a guideline for building, and we made changes on the fly. And the parts list doesn't include the scoops, cannons, and hammers, because we were using them as needed when the marble started to slow down. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nO96A2afbD_pvFgVtKATgweFMEmJTgI-ce0BO3P3Wlc/edit?usp=sharing

Check out the updated description for some more behind-the-scenes stuff. I've linked to 3 documents that included some of the length/section planning, the 4 track layouts we used, and the overall build strategy.
@ethanferret71312 жыл бұрын
@@MaskedMarble Lol no way. I don’t have the baseplates to build this or better yet outclass you;as I only have 30, but if the chance comes around, I will attempt to beat said record. Also, does it have to be in a straight line, or is it allowed to make it turn for my convenience depending on location?
@MaskedMarble2 жыл бұрын
@@ethanferret7131 No need to be straight. Almost nothing in this world is perfectly straight anyway. From geometry, we understand that distance and space can be curved. So if the goal is to know the distance of a marble track that is built along a curve, we easily can calculate the distance. Just like the distance traversed by a planet around the sun is not straight.Even perimeters are measurements of distance.

Really fun direction you are taking lately with your Gravi-Entertainment! Congrats for your energy 🙌 Would love to do something like this, looks like so much fun you had 💚 But things like this can only be built on US sidewalks, I'm afraid ^^ No chance we can ever take this up on our French medieval cobblestones 😂
@MaskedMarble2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I totally understand. Even most US sidewalks are not this level; I had to pick the location carefully, and it just happened to be across the street from my house. 😁 🏠
