Just amazing. I am a 70 y.o. retired automotive engineer from Detroit. Right out of engineering school in the late 70's, I worked for a company that helped GM develop its first-generation X-body which was GM's first foray into front wheel drive. Reducing weight and direct connection with CV joints of the front wheels to the transmission was all based upon improving fuel economy. This is when cars were just beginning to evolve from full separate frame and rear wheel drive to unit body construction and front wheel drive. Our task was to develop the first "American' front engine cradle that supported a transverse V6 and FWD automatic transmission. These cars went on to be released as: Chevrolet Citation (1980-1985) 2. Oldsmobile Omega (1980-1984) 3. Pontiac Phoenix (1980-1984) 4. Buick Skylark (1980-1985) GM did not develop the first proof of concept of a unit body front wheel drive car. Its was the Honda Accord, still being produced today almost 50 years later. In Engineering, there is very little 'invention' Much of engineering is reverse engineering of an idea somebody else had, in this case Mr. Honda. The first front-wheel-drive Honda Accord was released in America in 1976, and the first front-wheel-drive Toyota Corolla was imported to the US in 1984 The first Corolla's were 'rear wheel drive' and imported into the US in 1968. We developed the FWD X-body for GM without the use of computers not unlike what you are doing in this video. Cut and paste. Today, all cars are developed in 3D Cad on the computer. Then parts are made and assembled based upon the computer models. So, for me, this brought back a lot of memories. Rich and Joey, you are the dynamic duo. What great fun observing your talent. All the brilliant men I worked for back then are now all dead. I sometimes think about them including now watching your video.

@@lukemocherman1236 Thanks Luke! Was blessed really. I had great parents. Son of an automotive engineer who brought home all the fastest Chevy's from the Chevy Tech center in Warren, MI from the muscle car era...60's, 70's and early 80's. I was tuning my parents cars when I was 12 y.o. My Dad and I would take them out after dinner and open them up. Big and small block Corvettes, Camaro's, Chevelles, SS Nova's...all of 'em. Still have some memories of those days when I was a little kid. Rich and Joey are so talented and just love to watch them build stuff. All best in 2025 and thank you for the kind words. PS. my first building project was cutting a bicycle in two when I was 12 y.o., bolting on rear box section and taking a horizontal shaft 3 hp Briggs & Straton, cutting the base off of a reel lawn mower off with hacksaw, clamping it to the bike, mercury clutch, solid wheel barrow wheels...where is all started...and built faster minibikes with modified engines... and go on to build custom motorcycles when older and muscle cars. Love of stuff with motors. Gearhead gene. Latest stuff I build into old age is high powered e-bkes. Class III 28 mph store bought e-bikes aren't fast enough. 🙂

Loving the build!!! In the mid '90s it took me 6 months (working a full-time job, wife and 2 kids) to build a Ford Aerostar. Removed a v6 5 speed and installed a 5.0HO, efi, aod, w/8.8 rear at 150,000 miles. I had it for almost 20 years, 15 years as a v8. Used it as a daily driver (not in snow), put 200,000 miles on it with the v8, got 5 more mpg than the v6 and it was a blast to drive. It never broke down and I did 2 Hot Rod Power Tours with it. Lowered it 1 1/2 inches and added a larger front sway bar and added a rear one. There's a lot more, but you get the idea....... This Hellcat minivan is probably going to be the most useful build you could have done, I think you'll enjoy it!!!!

@ I’m building my first car and sold it to help finance that project. If you type “V8 Aerostar” in KZbin, you’ll find the van. My son posted 3 videos and I have 1 on my channel. My ‘65 Sport Fury (first car, purchased June ‘79) is also there. As far as the van, I was asked several times at car shows if the V8 was factory. I made a ram-air, cowl induction hood for it and it still looked like the factory could have done it. The van was awesome and I drove it a lot!!!

I tried to keep up with ice T but the video weren’t in order if you did this and made it easy to follow you could keep a audience, captivated.

Those days aren't over Rich. I have been watching @Sarahntuned create a work of art with her V8 swap in the 74 Celica. You just have to choose to whom you want to cater.

I hear you on the attention span thing, but I have been following BOM and their Binky since MCM was building a VTEC Mini Cooper and I can’t complain. For some reason their comment section is 90% comments on how long it’s taking two dudes with full time jobs to hand fabricate this car, like it’s a problem somehow that there has been 10 years of edging. Ten years of videos that never miss and it’s nothing but complaints that it isn’t over.

I think it’s great to see somewhat of a massive project all come together bit by bit by something feel like they have the right to everything which is just ridiculous

The motor drivers got too good. If EV's squealed like old thyristor based VFD's used in electric trains they'd sound like they had power. Instead of these fake sounds.

Hey Rich... either you got too much money or time on your hands or maybe both. This is wild AF, Crazy cool Idea!!! Oooooh, if he only makes the interior of the minivan a living space for overlanding and car camping.
