You may want to get stronger mesh wire with smaller holes. Rats can squeeze through chicken wire and almost any other predator can get through chicken wire. Just thought I would let you know

9:18 - Turtles often get pretty old in captivity a Tortoise even older. Turtles a minimum of 10 years, but around 50 is not uncommon. Tortoises get between 80 to a staggering 150 years old. It safe to say that it´ll be occupied a long time. These animals are a huge undertaking.

I would put some lights in there. Maybe even warming lights as well if needed but more spectrum light. Like plant growing lights .I'm sure the turtles will love it..

I bred Gouldians and became a Rat proffer, Hector is a badass and its beautiful. The only thing I noticed is? Where the roof panels have the wave in ? You may have to fill that little opening with foam. In between the panel and the wood the little mice can squeeze under the wavy space.🤔 check it out I csnt see real good. Looks great csnt wait to see the turtles.

There's gaps under the corrugated roof sheeting where the metal corrugates upward, or forms a hill, the rats, mice and birds can get in there. Not sure if you get it at your hardwares in Florida but you get a pre cut rubber/foam to close these gaps, or you can just fill with filler foam but it won't look neat .

Yes rats can, and yes they will. Raccoons can bite through it as well. You need hardware cloth around the outside walls and ground.

Please make sure the chicken wire is connected by wave wire or it will bend over time and let the rats in, even with that much overlay.

Believe it or not, rats can chew through chicken wire which is what you used on the room. Smaller rats can even slip through the holes. Hopefully you won't have a problem, but if you do, try 1/4 inch wire mesh. It is a little thicker and has smaller holes. It'll keep the rats out.

Rats can get in-between any hole that's the size of a quarter bigger so they can get in that and a raccoon can figure a way to wrap in the chicken wire over time I born and raised in Florida I have a bunch of animals I recommend for outside hardware cloth it is much more durable and it's holes are too small for rats to get in and it is so much stronger like I said and I'll hold up to the weather a lot better
