The High Sierra Fly In 2017, home of the STOL Drag Racing World Championships, was one for the record books. Great times to be had by all, with the exception of a few minor incidents. There were about 200 aircraft of all different types and over 400 people! Thanks to Kevin Quinn for putting on such an awesome event. Look forward to seeing everyone out there next year, October 18-21st 2018!

To date this is my favorite aviation series. I have long planned to purchase a Kitfox and toy hauler and travel the west. Low and slow - isolated vistas, secluded back country jewels. Seeing these videos helps me to move that dream further up the priority list. Thanks Trent

Just saw this for the first time and have no idea if you read anything this old, but I am so jealous of you guys. I've already been a pilot too many years longer than you've been alive, so it's a little late for me to try to join your fun ranks. I sure have a great time watching you younger pilots do stuff that wasn't even thought of when I was young. Way to go, and more power to ya!!!

Went on my first introductory flight this weekend from Stead and the instructor mentioned the Fly-In and STOL Drags once we got to an altitude where we could see the dry lake bed. At 1:30, there are two MH 1521 Broussard, the first one with the correct paintings of FAF, the second with a camo pattern that was not existing by the time this plane was retired from active service. I did not know about Broussard flying in the USA. A friend of mine did sold two of them recently.

And an impressive noise as well while taking off and climbing due to supersonic speed at propeller blades ends. After retiring from French Army, Broussard became work horse for quite all skydiving centers here. Almost quite immediately, neighboring start complaining about. Thanks for the vid, so far from what we can do in Europe.

That was another great video. The most impressive part was your semifinal loss at 13:30. I know it wasn't a carbon cub but the guy that beat you barely lost in the finals to a carbon cub. I see why you picked a kit fox. Seems to be a bargain although I don't now what you paid for it but I do know what a carbon cub costs. You have got to be selling some kit foxes for anyone who is paying attention to what your plane can do. Well done.

@TrentonPalmer 7 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah?? I would love to see that and learn more, what type Aircraft was it on?
@thehammerman4436
@thehammerman4436 7 жыл бұрын
It was on a kitfox testbed plane they use for testing new ideas. They're still working it up so it hasn't gone vertical yet. The concept is pretty simple in that it uses electric "screwjacks" (dunno what else to call them... that's what they look like) to deploy or retract the slats. Note: THEY'RE SLOW.(30+secs to full deployment) So unless they change it to pneumatic/hydraulic I don't think you'll see high speed slat deployment in this application. If they change to that system they'll have to boost engine power due to the mass change. (added mass/weight from the extra systems)
