Join us on our adventure to Cijin Island in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan! We start by searching for ferry tickets and accidentally head to the wrong port. After getting back on track and finally making it to the island, we grab some cold beverages from 7-Eleven. Next, we use a fun press-a-penny machine to get a souvenir before we start exploring the lighthouse which offers spectacular views. We then check out the old fort overlooking the city and walk through a light tunnel down to the beach. There, we savor a delicious local potato pastry and a chia seed basil seed drink before heading to an amazing ice cream place that was recommended. We end our day walking along the beach, this truly was the perfect day in Kaohsiung Taiwan!

At 7-11 or Family Mart, the price on the logo could be for the 2nd bottle on BOGO deal. TW is pretty safe and the vendors are pretty honest, very welcoming and they tend to serve people and not take advantage on others.

The large yakult yall got was Taiwanese version of yakult😂 also you can trust the on sale thing in 7-11 but you need to grab the exact same items as it shows on the tag, sometimes it’s buy one get one free, and sometimes it’s 50% off by getting the second same item…etc.

You can just order coffee at 7-11. The Starbucks and 7-11 are owned by the same company therefore 7-11 uses the same coffee beans as Starbucks in Taiwan and it's much more affordable at 7-11.

Taiwanese Family Mart and 7/11 have weird combo prices. Even for a Taiwanese who can read and speak, but lives overseas, when I go back it's hard to work out some of the deals. Sometimes it's like A+B discount, sometimes you need two items that are exactly the same, not even different flavors allowed for the discount to apply.

For pronunciation I usually will copy and paste the Chinese characters into google translate and then use their speech function. Google translate is pretty accurate with mandarin. Unlike English, mandarin has consistent sounds with their characters 😂

Wasn't your fault finding words hard to pronounce. The Taiwanese government somehow picked the most foreign unfriendly method of phonic system for official use. The mountain Cihou is actually pronounced Chi Hoe Shan (Shan as mount) There are many examples of silly captions like this throughout the country. The scholars working in the government which decides all these stuff are not your ordinary people who lives a normal life, they live on a pedestal in some ivory temple if you get what I mean. Who would pick such a weird phonic system especially when your target audiences are English speakers. Chi Jin Island is no joke, it's 500 metres wide, 8.5 kms long. Walking the whole thing is like a trek. You can even see it when zoomed out on google earth.

Uh, just to let you know or to remind you Shelbs, for a cup of Coffee at OVERRATED Starbucks…it can cost you $5.00 or MORE. Therefore, spending around $5.00 at a Mom & Pop Coffee Shop in Taipei isn't overly expensive as you think. Also, it’s always good and best to support Mom & Pop Places instead of supporting places like an OVERRATED Starbucks. One more thing, the Cost of Living in Taipei is generally more expensive than other places in Taiwan. You can basically describe Taipei as Taiwan’s Mini New York City.
