I still believe that this is a tool for us, artists, and it should be open for everyone to use. It’s not a tool to replace artists, but rather to amplify their craft, because who’s here have real imagination in their heads and can come up with novel ideas?

I agree, at least for now. Maybe in the future, theres going to be autonomous AI that creates their own artworks all on their own but right now, artists have so much potential if they leverage this tech.

@@RexelBartolome But artists are who put the intention behind the art, so I think it doesn't make sense that AI can replace that intention (unless they become AGI).

Yea mainly talking about AGI. And also I think the intention behind the art is more important only when talking about art for human expression. But in terms of art in a commercial setting like promotional art, billboards, and other advertisements, that can easily be done without human supervision in the next few years. Heck maybe even an AI influencer

@@RexelBartolome Ah, yeah, you are right, they are very capable for that. Generative AI can already make lots of automatic *very good* decissions that make their generations competitive enough for some professional work. What I meant before is that we artists (before AGI age at least) should always be trying to guide AIs to where we want them to go, and preferably not only leaving them generate in "autopilot mode" to get the final result faster. Of course, the amount of artist's input will depend on the kind of work needed to make in each case.

This is a good direction for Ai even if you don’t like adobe. It is always the big companies that make huge step in tech before it pass to the smaller guy. So don’t be gloom and doom about this. We can learn from them and make legal Ai better faster for everyone

I agree that companies that have lots of money usually drives up competition and in general speeds up innovation. Though what I don't like is Adobe isn't a research company, they're deliberately hiding the full details of their dataset and AI model for the sake of keeping their position in the market, unlike StabilityAI which releases research papers and code for everyone to use all the time for their AI models. I'd argue StabilityAI's approach is much more admirable compared to Adobe's

I'm trying to educate people, saying that "While it's true, Firefly is probably an ethical ai. Adobe has done some crazy stuff and got in trouble a few times that they cause headaches for some creators. That's why there's a good reason why a few artists advise others to pirate their stuff." Well, I am sitting here, wondering who will be crazy enough to pirate Firefly.🤔
@RexelBartolome

It's probably a large model that consumer hardware can't realistically use but yes, somewhere down the line, someone might just try to 'pirate' this by training another AI on Firefly generations.

Great video! You explained my thoughts exactly ^_^ I understand the anti-AI reaction from most artists, but I'm afraid they may have been misguided by their emotions rather than looking at the current situation as it is: 1) AI is already here, and it's not going away. 2) AI is extremely powerful, and anyone who uses it has a great advantage over those who do not (not only in image generation but in all other areas). AI should be open-source. If it's not, those who control it will have too much leverage over the rest of humanity, and the gap between rich people (who can afford it) and poor people (who cannot) will increase. 4) We should support open-source models. If we are going to legally challenge any AI company, we should start with those that are closed-source (such as OpenAI, Microsoft, Adobe, Google), not with those that release everything to the public (such as Stability AI).

Well said! It's really unfortunate that stability was put to the legal spotlight, very much undeserved compared to other companies. Hopefully we can learn from this and support these open source efforts moving forward
