Definitely anchor that bookshelf to the wall. And your children are all so beautiful! I remember when my now 30-year-old nephew started moving on his own. I had left my gym shoes on the other side of the den from where he was sitting, and the next thing I knew, he had done the whole “get on his knees, lunge forward, then repeat” all the way across the room just to check out my shoes. His younger sister (now with a PhD) would do the same for a book.
