We decided to change the design of the c-cab itself so we're going to draw a new shape on the sheet metal, shape a piece of round rod, weld it on the side of the cab then cut out the shape... are you still following? 😬

As you look at the seat bars, maybe it would look more natural to cut the curve by following the seat bar line downward for the foot opening. Good on you for catching this problem now rather than after the bodywork and paint.

Great progress. I agree with many others, take the line of the seat rail and cut the step thru to match. I had a thought, maybe you could weld the mounting nuts for the running boards and fender assembly right to the frame, and before you take them off, it would make the remounting process quicker, just put lock washers under the bolt heads to keep everything right and tight. Jolene is doing a great job on camera. I'm glad she asks questions and offers suggestions, it probably is what some folks are thinking. Your a good teacher Chad, keep on showing and explaining!!

Build is coming along real nice. Just an idea on the door. A half door (nothing on the upper half) that hinges like a suicide door and the latch is on the inside would work perfectly. You would not see any door handle and it would be easy to reach in and open. Also opens up wide to easily get in.

I love your show and watch it every day! I normally agree and like what your doing on this truck however on the door cutout I think it looks cheap. If I have a vote…I would have liked to see you make a suicide door. I know that’s easy for me to say because in not doing the work!!! Also, something I’ve wondered from the start…..why haven’t you removed the seat?? With all the grinding I would now think it’s full of grinding and rust dust ! Also the chance of it catching fire. Keep up the good work.

Jolene is awesome, she has often brings up the common sense and reason behind the issues that I’m also wondering about, like with her logic of welding on the other side of the round rod, from where the opening is gonna get cut out from. Jolene has seen it all enough times over, from behind the lens, she has the foresight to see around the corners to the obstacle and is usually right is on it. I watch Bad Chad so much, that I can kinda see right when he veers off and gets tangled up in the weeds and Jolene grabs the wheel…LoL, in defense of Chad’s logic and experience he took us on the more scenic route and utilized the weld braising discoloration marks on the other side as a guideline for where to make a jagged cut just out from the round rod, feathered the edges back up to the round rod cut off the welds, and repositioned them, before Chad smoothed it all out with a cut off, then a flapper wheel, welded up and ground back edge triple flip trick, and stuck a perfectly executed vaulted landing with flourish, before wrapping it all up with a bow and curtsy then dipping out real quick…LoL…8)

Jolene does great at keeping focus and frame to see so much of Chad's technique on this. Chad walks thru an efficient way he's learned to preserve shape while adding an organic cutout shape that could have removed a serious amount of stiffness from those panels unless done right. Reminds me of a very, very old article in Hot Rod magazine where electrical conduit was used to put WIDE, outward flares on rear wheel wells of a Mustang. Love the character and practicality this puts into the cab.

Not meaning it to be a sh**y comment but I think you should have left it alone. The cut out looks just like what it is, an after thought. Granted it was harder to get in and out, but your cars are art work and often times style has to take precedence over function. This truck is all about looks and I don't think it will ever be a daily driver. My opinion, put the sheet metal back in and don't cut the other side. I hope you will take a long hard look at it before going any farther. Other than this glitch the truck is looking great!!
