The fact that you're mentioning politics speaks to how you see the situation. They made Ciri more quite a bit more manly in the face. If it doesn't bother you that's great, but pretending like its not happening or won't bother others is absurd and pointless. Yeah I was thinking about that after the last game. A Witcher game with character creation, multiple classes, and a deeper/less janky combat system. You could play as a mage with spells, or a ranger archetype bow focused character, or a Witcher who focuses on acrobatic melee, potions/poisons and signs. The bones of a great combat/build system are there, they just need to refine it and tune the numbers. You could make something really cool in that universe.

The project leads have always been like this for the CDPR games just check the Red podcast that they have been doing with many of their lead artist, developers. Cyberpunk sequel has the same lead that took over Cyberpunk before it was revamped and these people have been known for years. I understand a lot of people are screaming DEI every time, but other than some strange hiring things which could have simply been to gain some bonus points with that crowd. There never has been any indication that the teams are filled with them or that the writing has some how dropped off a cliff due to Phantom Liberty having arguably better writing than Cyberpunks base game. Not to mention CDPR games have always had DEI in certain side quests, but they have always been implemented in a way that isn't in your face like Veilguard.

Why not just be hyped and wait and see how it goes? I'm hyped and hope the game can be set for release in 2027.
@JH-fp1lwАй бұрын
@@-t96 Another thing I've been pointing out to people concerned about "woke ideology undermining the game is that CDPR has made a video in the past discussing their approach to DEI and if you watch the video it's not nearly as bad as it sounds. In the video they reference the bloody barron questline as an example of them implementing DEI in their games as it explores difficult circumstances such as domestic violence and other family issues. If that's CDPRs take on DEI then i'm all in, give us more of that! I feel like DEI has turned into such a boogeyman lately and maybe a lot of the criticizm of the actions of a lot of studios recently is warrented but as with anything else, context matters.

Okay, for all the people who apparently don't know the lore or have created their own head canon: there is no hard and fast rule preventing women from being witchers. It's simply the tradition they kept, and the mutations genetically work best with pubescent male hormones, adrenaline, endocrine etc. In the books, the witchers and Triss are actively considering whether or not putting Ciri through the trial of the grasses is worth it pros and cons style. The biggest obstacle to it all is not that Ciri is a girl, but that they don't have all the alchemical ingredients and a full working knowledge of how to administer the process. Vessimir was the last of the generation of witchers at Kaer Morhen that still did the trials and he was not the expert. There is no magic rule that says all witchers must be boys and all sorcerers must be women. That isn't the case so I'm not sure where so many people are getting that idea from.

Yeah and in the Tower of the Swallow, Ciri is referred to as a witcher. That she ultimately becomes one is a major part of the story in the books.

Less than a handful of them and in any case the knowledge of how to make witchers was lost
@kylelenertz5509Ай бұрын
@Atomy111 I may be mistaken as I only watched a playthrough of the first game, but wasn't one of the main early points that salamandra attacked kaer morhen to steal the knowledge for making witchers to build an army of mutants? Meaning that in cd projects expansion of the lore they've regained the knowledge/tools to create witchers. And that's not even considering all the other witcher schools that were never specifically stated to have lost that. Don't quote me on that, but I'm fairly certain that's part of the story started by the games.
@derptothemaxclearlyАй бұрын
The entire process was designed to work with males because it was found that the females died 100% of the time. Males managed to survive 30% of the time. Its been established that Ciri wasn't showing any positive reaction to even taking the mild potions, and Geralt wasn't about to mutilate her with anything more.
@kylelenertz5509Ай бұрын
@derptothemaxclearly first of all she absolutely was showing positive reactions, her strength, stamina and agility were all boosted by those, the side effects that were "negative" were her random jumbled prophecies. That was because she was a source not because she was a girl. Where are you getting that no girls survived? I've seen several people say that, but can't find that part in the books anywhere.

@nightrain1121 I think we just live in a certain era of gaming where it’s way too popular. People who don’t actually know anything about video games consider themselves hardcore gamers because they play Fortnite or COD every day. Then they throw a fit when a game they’ve never heard of wins an award that they don’t even really care about. It’s just a weird and toxic cycle that I hope we get out of as a community.
@LordMuzhyАй бұрын
@nightrain1121 To be fair BG3 was actually a good game with good writing and attractive characters and the identity politics weren't shoved down your throat like in Dragon Age Veilguard. I think that's the main difference. Personally I think Ciri looks great and I can't wait to play as her, however if the writing is cringey and Ciri told us she identifies as they/them then yes it would be annoying and I would be turned off.
@withoutthejuice7193Ай бұрын
@ Seriously tho how would Ciri going by they/them turn you off? Like how do you let something that minuscule get you upset? Personally, I wouldn’t understand the choice either, but I’d get over it in about 10 seconds and continue playing the game. We really gotta stop this weird behavior. There’s bigger stuff to worry about.

I’m just flabbergasted that no one is talking about why Ciri would risk the trial of the grasses, knowing how big of a slap in the face it is to the people she supposedly loves.
@3dhelikillerАй бұрын
Her becoming a witcher and passing the trial will be part of the game. The trailer isnt about the beginning of the game, but rather about a sidequest later in the game. You dont know what risk she'll undertake and what the motivations are. There are different trials in different schools and for example in the books she only did a partial trial. We also know mages can assist the trial and maybe the elderblood makes her more resillient. Why judge a story you dont know anything about yet?

Sorry, but I want to play as Ciri, not female Geralt. Just randomly saying she has now gone through the Trial of the Grasses is lazy. Despite all the reasons why she can't in the books and the lore of the games. She has her own powers. She should just be using the skills she was taught and her own abilities.
@Addam_Ай бұрын
This was my disappointment, like sure, I'm still gonna play it cause it's more Witcher but if I'm gonna play as Ciri I wanted to play as super fancy magic powers Ciri. I would have rather had a game set hundreds of years in the past/future with a create your own character MC than Trial of Grasses Ciri.

@@Addam_ She has magical powers, that’s been stated. I for one would have been suuuuper disappointed by a character creator and that would have made me skip the game until a deep sale. The Witcher isn’t elder scrolls.
@mordor1779Ай бұрын
So you would rather have no alchemy, no potions, no Witcher spells ? Her not being a real Witcher would mean missing out on so many possible builds and gameplay possibilities. And by the way the director of the game clearly says in the video that we will experience in the game how Ciri becomes a Witcher so it's not simply " she took the trial and that's it " like you said My worry is more with her being turned into a cringe girl boss rather than her taking the trial, as long as she's the only female Witcher who exists it doesn't bother me. I mean she's so powerful in Witcher 3 the fact that she could survive the trial and become a Witcher doesn't shock me at all

The product placement in Intergalactic was weird. But I think it could be a compromise, like "we'll give you the blank check for this game, but we need ads to make up for it."
@langleymneelyАй бұрын
I also think its a purposeful commentary on the nature of Intergalactics alt history. Their universe is like ours up until the 80s when intergalactic travel becomes ubiquitous. I think the commercialism is a byproduct of the universe being influenced by 80s culture? Like it’s going for 80s aesthetics and 80s capitalist values.
