Vielguard was just not what I wanted to see. Terribly written characters, a story that starts to rewrite events at times, just ignores player choice in the past(Inqusition had this problem due to file sharing not working across 360 to xbox one but they found another way with the dragonkeep 'build your timeline' idea) and the combat had been stripped down massively. Making me feel like it was trying to be more like mass effect. I saw one person defend it with "The beginning and end are good" and I can't tell you how bad a defense that is to me. It's like saying the bread of a sandwich is good but everything in between is rotten. I know alot of games have 'that spot' in it. A level, a mission, a part that's a bit of a let down, but the entire middle of the game? Complete joke.

Everything at Microsoft went straight to shit after that Activision Blizzard acquisition. Probably one of the worst investments they've ever made.

Why do you only talk about comic book and kids movies? I’d understand just covering video game adaptations but you reach just far enough outside of that for me to wonder. Why just the nerd bro stuff? Why are video game channels all so weird about movies? I’d understand if you didn’t cover them but this middle ground is strange

@skillup is it time to start recognizing games industry works more like the startup industry. Lots of volatile, risky projects, many or most will fail. The layoffs are not the end of the world as many of them end up moving on to new game projects.

Lmao too much fear for the gatchification of western videogames when they barely can make a successful live service. What Mihoyo has become is because the quality of their games, i dont like how those are monetised, but still their games offers much better experiences than lots of AAA most recognised studios.

I really enjoyed this video, it's easy to get caught up with the flow of time and forget everything that happened in a year. Videos like these are a good way to recontextualise the year and add a few games to the "play later" list!

Seeing all of these companies suffer for their terrible decisions has been one of the best parts for 2024 for me, it sucks that developers are getting laid off but I do think Gaming is slowly healing because of this. People are starting to wake up to the bs and not tolerate it any more.

Western Gacha will flop even harder than live services, because their greed is even worse than those on Asia. At least the asian ones try to do something more than to exploit their customers.

Concord's gun play combined with the floaty movement and double/triple jumps and dashes was actually so satisfying man smh it really did not deserve all the hate that all the sheep just blindly followed. Say what you want about how it looked but it was literally made by veteran devs from Halo, Destiny, and CoD and it played as such.

I, too, was very disappointed. I have been playing this franchise since the very beginning. There are too many issues to name here. I played this game as if it was a stand alone game with no relation to the original games. I also need to mention . . . What is Dorian doing with a mullet??? ::sigh::

In my opinion, if we only look at 2024, its been a rough year for the gaming industry. The amount of layoffs this year are shocking and most of the games this year really werent that great. But i hope that when we look back at 2024 in some years time, we can confidently say, that this was the year, that finally made the AAA-industry realize that their way of developing games isnt gonna get them sales anymore. Most of the good games this year came from indie developers or smaller studios, while giants like ubisoft are starting to crumble, or, in ubisofts case, seem to fall apart already. I dont think that everything will be all good next year, but this year gave me hope that we may just be at the turning point

Gaming has gone down in quality for sure in recent years. Not only creatively but also optimization wise. It feels like modern game required specs are being inflated on purpose. They look slightly better than before but require 3 times as much hardware power. Either that or developers are just not as good as they once were.

Curious why you have a "never before seen shrinking of the games industry" mentality. If anything, most of the publishers and studios overhired during covid, and are now correcting. And for reference, Fromsoft (and many other Japanese, Korean, and Chinese studios) have still been hiring throughout 2024...

Simply the most detailed, immersive environments I've ever seen. It's not supposed to be "realistic"; spot on, it's supposed to evoke that glorious Indie spirit of adventure. The game does that in spades. There are certainly a few flaws, mostly gameplay related but they do not detract from the core of this game. Such a shame about sales but I think this one has legs, especially if they patch out the weaker points.
