I can't get over the difference in mood with just Bailey and Jacob. It's so relaxed and fun. This needs to happen more often! No offense intended towards the younger kids. This series has been super fun!

@BallingerFamily 23 күн бұрын
We didn’t have any umbrellas and it was the only day it rained on the trip, so we didn’t want to be wasteful and buy four umbrellas for only one day of use (nir did we see any being sold around us). We had also thought we had done a good job avoiding it for the day, with all the indoor museum time. It really wasn’t until the last hour when it became an issue. The rain also wasn’t on the initial trip forecast. Just one of those flukes that gave us a bit of adventure.

In Cataluña normally they don't offer tap water in restaurants because it tastes a bit strong. You can of course drink it but a lot of people buy bottled water even for home. This is not like that in the whole country but Barcelona's water for sure has a funny taste...

A little tip for restaurants in Europe - if you would like water for the table ask for tap water, that way it’s free :) otherwise as you may have experienced, they will bring fancy bottled water! Enjoy!

Regarding the water, you should definitely tell them you want tap water (which is free) and not just water. In France for example they would bring bottled water when you ask for water at different restaurants. They take advantage of the tourists/people that don’t know that they could get free tap water. Not all places do that ofc, but just in general ask for tap water 👌🏼 Idk if in Spain they are obliged to have free tap water or not, but in France it’s pretty much a rule (not sure if a law or not).
@BallingerFamily
@BallingerFamily 23 күн бұрын
Yeah it was interesting. That’s what we’ve always done in other countries in Europe. And we knew it was possible in Spain, but even when we asked pretty clearly, they would tell us the water wasn’t good enough to drink and bring the bottles. We aren’t very aggressive, though, and just went with it. & The tap water at La Fabrica was totally fine to us 💗

@@BallingerFamily Oh I see, hmm maybe they had a filter or smth at La Fabrica and that’s why they could give it to you since everywhere else they said it wasn’t good. Glad you know about the tap water thing tho, because I know not everyone does and they get tricked into buying bottled water that’s always much more expensive in restaurants 🥲

In my country, Spain, 90% of people drink tap water. Only in mediterranean coast they usually drink bottled water because tap water tastes different but it is safe too (spanish have the longest life expentacy of Europe).

@@chaz12582 just because the buildings and roads are old, doesn't mean they're stuck in the Middle Ages or the BC era. Also, lots of European countries are more pedestrian friendly, as in you don't always need a car to get around. And there's also the fact that there are people with various disabilities all over the world, so they get to live in those places too, not just visitors.

This may be my Irish/German American heritage, but, you shouldn't use a blow dryer to dry clothes, because it can cause a fire. Apparently it happens in college dorms and stuff sometimes. Second, to dry your shoes, stick crumpled up newspaper in them and let them sit over night. Simple runner hack that works every time.
