That tofu is called Goma (sesame) tofu. There is no soy in it. Just grounded sesame, water with arrowroot like powder that gives it that gooey mouthfeel.

Kawagoe is a city where you can enjoy authentic Little Edo, with delicious street food. The cityscape looks like something out of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. The eel that the two of you ate looks very delicious😋 Eel is expensive these days, but it's also very popular with tourists from overseas.

Great video! I wonder if anyone told you that the tofu appetizer you both enjoyed was goma dofu (sesame tofu). You can buy them in supermarkets as well. Instead of applying simple soy sauce, we often use men tsuyu (soba sauce/soup) which you can also buy at supermarkets (but make sure to dilute them with water as they come in condensed bottles). Another form of tofu you may enjoy is Tamago dofu (egg tofu) and edamame dofu. The egg tofu is yellow, has the texture of a jello, and is very tasty.

Textures are my downfall, my very first taste of octopus was smoked in a can and i said yuck, hey we were like 8 yrs old about 9 of us and our neighbor came to enlighten our tastebuds! About 3 of us liked it and i was not one. Determined to give it a fair shot ive tried fresh and grilled(best!) sauteed’, and fried. Still not my cup of tea, but i TRY so i get points for that! Glad you enjoyed it! I think socks or no socks depends on the outfit we chose... my kimono is more formal and requires socks but Note chose a yukata which is less formal (worn for summer festivals and for bathing) so it doesn't come with socks.
