People don't "do the right thing by remaining calm". Some people panic especially if they know corrupt/incompetent cops will shoot them at the drop of a hat. It's the police's job (like this guy seems to be handling well) to not escalate and prevent people from panicking

What you see on social medias is not the norm. You always have to keep that in mind. Even this one was arguably uploaded because it goes from the norm to positive. Usually it goes from the norm to negative though. Never trust social media. It only uploads things that are not normal because normal is not interesting. If you take social media as average your world view will be fucked up beyond repair in all sorts of ways. I see that way too often.

No, this was too much. Unnecessary. The jogger was clearly calm and understanding and the police officers come up with the race thing multiple times as if they wanted to start debating or something. @@gobackgina dude the officer was calm and chill as hell. And like he said, it had NOTHING to do with race. His general description matched perfectly to the original report. If you seriously think it's about race, then YOU'RE the racist. I'm white, and I've been detained before just bc I matched the original description of a crime. I was given the exact same treatment. If you ACTUALLY think the average cop is out there "just tryina kill someone" then you need serious mental help. Most people, including cops, don't EVER want to shoot, let alone kill, someone. Consider this, many cops are Christian. And Christian's are EXTREMELY against killing, unless it's to protect yourself and/or your family. Cooperate, and be respectful, and if you did nothing wrong and you cooperate, then you have nothing to worry about. The only people who get scared of cops or resist cops are people who are breaking the law in one way or another. Even if you did nothing wrong, if you start resisting and not cooperating, then you might very well wind up in a bunch of trouble, and maybe even in a box. It's not complicated, and it's not about race. The dude that originally got detained even thanked the officers at the end of the video for being so caring and professional (which was largely due to his cooperation) The guy WHO GOT DETAINED had no harsh feelings, so why do you??? You sound like the problem honey.

A lot of cops fit the description too. I feel sick when I see this over and over again. Yes I am sure a white guy would be put in handcuffs for burglarizing a black man's home. See it through the cops eyes man, see it through this black man's eyes. STFU telling him I'm right there with you, you aren't a black man and obviously aren't anywhere with the man you are detaining and the cop basically just tried to say that it is the fault of the unarmed black man for getting killed by cops. I'm not saying that cops are always at fault but this guy is going to tell him not to pull the race card. If I feel disgusted by this then I can imagine how he feels and every other person this happens to over and over again. If race is no issue then why does the cop keep talking about it and telling this man not to pull the race card. The person who keeps going on and on about not being a racist is usually a racist.

Great level of calm and understanding. To me, the handcuffing may be standard procedure but its still degrading especially to stand like that in your own neighborhood and multiple cop cars surrounding you, it does draw attention, i wish there could be an alternative to that part because despite remaining respectful and calm that man still probably feels belittled having to stand like that. Nonetheless the approach was great, letting the civilian know straight out the gate where the energy is at and that they can lower their guard a little. Many can learn from this cop

There were a lot of black guys sitting in the back waiting their turn, every single one of them were charges while whites walked. Those guys laughed and said to me after in the back while processing. You really thought you were going to get justice??? They said it’s a revolving door, it’s how they make money. I don’t think that judge was fair, not only my case, but other cases. In a perfect world all judges are uphold the law without prejudice. That day in traffic court was the real world, so was the traffic stop. I did not mention this before, the cop followed me, he had his brights on and I couldn’t see who it was, I was in a rural area, all white so this is why it all happened. Most of my friends are white and I lived in a mostly white area. Our world is imperfect, there are some in law enforcement, and the justice system that have issues. Happened to me right outside Chicago across from my in laws business. Fit the description, Detained for about 30 minutes, patted down, questioned by about 5 officers not nearly as nice. Grabbing their guns everytime I move. It may not be a race thing all the time, but it is terrifying and humiliating when you still have to go into the store and buy some drinks for the family.

Put your shoes in the cops, they want to get the job done and catch the criminal. So anyone that fit the description has to be questioned just to be sure. What if the suspect was a serial killer or worse. Just cooperate and let them identify you, you are also helping your neighbourhood by cooperating.

I would never want to be black living in US ... I used to live in Jamaica... Every black person looks different we all should have experience staying with people with different colours of skin ... We are all different. Being stopped for having black skin colour this is intimidating and disgusting doesn't matter if those cops were nice... Like do you think this guy doesn't have a better things to do? Maybe he's going to work, maybe he needs to eat after a good run... I think last thing that he needs is to being stopped by cops and being handcuffed - stop with this madness get a proper description of the suspect ... It's not hard you live in US you have plenty of black people there and none of them look alike ... None of them looks the same or act the same. Sad... Can't imaging what I would feel in his position

Black ppl have have loads of practice, with just about every wht person historically being a "slave catcher" and ready to bear witness against them. This was about race because of the implicit bias they hold re blk ppl, generally. As a young marine walking into a barbershop in Jacksonville while wearing my dress alphas, I was refused a haircut because I represent as having "black hair." There was no need to handcuff this man especially after her produced a military ID. There was no courtesy extended here.

@@dizzle5151 1. He was never accused 2. Police are OBLIGATED to investigate, ASSIGNED to investigate If a crime was committed by an old fat white guy partly bald in a white Toyota, I'd not be surprised if I was stopped. Same for driving infractions. I've been stopped because my state-issued license plate had faded and was difficult to read, and I was too cheap to buy a new plate vs cheap annual sticky tag.
