The affinities stack. If you have Heavy affinity & a specific heavy mech affinity, they stack so you should instead of having a 10 to 20% bonus, you should have a 30% bonus to the skills of that pilot. Dropships in the tabletop aren't as tough as in the computer games. Yeah they have more armor and weaponry, but if they are grounded they are sitting ducks.
