I work at a meat processing facility and we do a lot of animals everyday but we use all the fancy machines. It’s not the same satisfaction as doing with hand tools and with your family and friends. The joy of passing the knowledge to those that don’t know and seeing their faces is priceless. Well done Hollars

Two pigs in two days was a huge undertaking, and you two did an excellent job teaching how to butcher a hog from start to finish. Ben, what was the weight of the pigs? Meg, you always prepare delicious meals for everyone, which is also a huge undertaking. Thank you Makayla for filming both days. And thank you to Jason, of Sow the Land, for your help as well. I recognized your mobile cooler to keep the meat cooled before butchering began.

I’ll never live on a homestead. I’ll never butcher chickens or animals of any kind. I’m a city dweller. BUT if I were living your sweet life there, I’d be right in it. It’s deliciously fabulous. That being said, my dad was a hunter/fisherman and processed deer, etc. in his big garage. We were there to watch the process of butchering and processing. So. It brings back memories and they are all good. Thank you!

Ben, Meg, great job! It must be a great experience being part of a live class where you're up close and personal, and have questions asked and answered on the spot. Oh my gosh! The food! It is great that your students get to experience the flavor of home grown pork in all of its variations as compared to store bought pork. ❤ Michela did a great job! Thanks for putting in just a few key things( such as the best place for that shot X), and a few other points. The class was probably a perfect size as too many it gets crowded and some people tend to stand back. Smaller means everyone's involved easier. Ben, you are a great speaker, no doubt a great teacher😊, and Meg we ALL wish for your recipes 😂 so that's never a point to worry over your meals.

This video just filled me with joy. I remember watching your videos a few years ago when you were attending classes to learn how to butcher and then helping others butcher. And now you have come full circle and are teaching your own. Corbin was right there with you soaking it all in and maybe someday he will be teaching the classes. Plus of course you had the full support of Meg who made a bountiful feast as usual. And also the filming and help from Michaela, as well as Jason from Sow the Land. The whole thing just looked like a room full of camaraderie. Great job guys

Look at that Cali boy, teaching how to butcher a pig. Betcha how many years ago you'd never think you would be doing something like this. Meg i have a question for you. Are you making soap anymore? I stopped about 5 years ago after i fell and fractured vertibrae in my mid and lower back. Just cant do what i used to. I need to sit. Then i began making epoxy resin stainless steal drink cups and art glass. Then of all things i fell and broke my hip 3 months ago. I can do this sitting. It just set me back a good 6 weeks. Working hard because i have 2 craft shows in a couple weeks. Thank you and the family sending out great videos of life on the farm. The kids are growing so fast and are so helpful. Your daughter is such a charmer. I worry though about being barefoot all the time. There are hazzards out there. Watch those precious foots. Meg, can you put buggies hair up in a bun yet? I think she would look just like mama. ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊

Enjoyed the video, Mickayla did a great job catching all the action and I agree that had you tried to do it yourself, it would have taken away a bunch. Both you and Meg did a great job presenting the subject matter. I don't live in an environment where I could ever raise any livestock but I know that your results of raising your own meat has to taste so good and healthier as well. I know any vegetables I grow in my small raised beds taste so much better than what the stores have to offer.
