@GlenAndMado yea Tauranga CBD has been let down by the local hierarchy. It was a great place a few years back with a great night-life. H-Town is University town so the night-life is rather rowdy too lol Anytime y'all want to have coffee and ask questions about stuff, just gotta holla at me🤙🏾

Hamilton is the most boring boring did I mention boring city, I should know have lived here all my life. Hamilton gardens is a top tourist attraction if you like gardens and flowers but honestly it ain't that great. Use to be free but now there's a fee. City council always say Hamilton is vibrant with lots to see and do. Whatever gardens museum and zoo. The best thing bout Hamilton is that it is central to all other towns and cities that actually do have actual attractions to see. For a city it's pathetically lamem. Don't come here and waste your money, drive in, fill the tank up , have a feed or buy to go and move on coz there ain't any shit here worth seeing. Even Jimmy Carr says it's fuckn boring and he wasn't joking lol

Glenn, New Zealand history goes back a long way for the Maori, it is just the european side that is new.
@kiwionarope6 ай бұрын
I agree, history in NZ goes back a very long way, far longer than the given 1000 years of Maori history. I'd say Polinesians have been coming to NZ for thousands of years. What I find curious is the history of Rats in NZ. rat bones have been dated to 2200 years old, someone brought them to New Zealand, Id say it was the Polynesians of old.
@whateverbro90022 ай бұрын
1000 years to a European isnt really a long way to be honest. Maori culture is literally the youngest culture in the world. No less important but it they have limited history compared to everyotherculture in the world.

After watching more of the video, I see how dead the CBD is. It’s hard for me to gauge now as I’ve lived in London for 12 years and visited many huge cities around the world. I have heard from family there that the central city died down and I think a big part of it was that they developed large shopping and entertainment sites on the outskirts of the town. Hamilton sprawls over a very large area and as you say, the population is relatively low. The developments on the outskirts also have large and free car parks available. The council made a conscious effort to reduce vehicle use in the CBD and I think it somewhat backfired.

At the Northern outskirts of Hamilton is a shopping complex called “The Base”. This is where everyone is now. That has killed the CBD of Hamilton now leaving it like a ghost town. I use to live there 20 yrs ago before the base and it was awesome. Was the Waikato flag flying near the coffee place you went to. When I first saw it I said to my mate “why are they flying Germanys flag”. Hh they look similar.
@GlenAndMado Жыл бұрын
Awh that's why, we were wondering. so thats the norm!?? its always quite then. what made you decide to leave good owl Hamilton? did you move far from were you grew up then? I thought it was the world cup flag we seen in Hamilton square. not sure need to look at it again haha
@kingcountrykiwi7429 Жыл бұрын
@@GlenAndMado yes it’s the norm, BUT as you seen all the restaurants and bars the place comes alive in the evenings when these are open and with the casino in the Main Street also. The big building where you get your coffee is the main Waikato council buildings where the mayor chambers are. Normally they fly their sporting flag which is Black/ Red and yellow. You see these colours on the uniforms of the local Rugby team. I’m from a tiny village below Mt Ruapehu where my mothers Maori heritage is from. I move to Hamilton to study and work in orcharding. I left that in 2006 and now live in Orewa (North of Auckland) and been at my current job for 18 yrs. Are you’s going to tour the north? Summer is best up here.

@@GlenAndMado if you want to go into history all the land from meremere (south of Auckland) to Kihikihi (south of Hamilton) was confiscated by the crown in the 1800s. Reparations were paid and with this money some Maori tribes have become finically successful. One being Hamilton tribe, Tainui.

I'm Born and raised in Hamilton. Hamilton central is always dead quiet. You should go out to "The Base" / Te Awa Mall, in Te Rapa ( a suburb in hamilton) The Mall there is PACKED. No one goes to the Central city anymore they're all at the Mall. Also Night Life/ Night Clubs are DEAD also..... if you came 10 years ago there was a very Lively Night Life on Thursday and Saturday Night at the Night Clubs/Bars. But now its cheaper to get wasted with alcohol and music at home.
