Zach, if you really wanna experience a new style of cauterizing, try getting tonsillitis! They remove those puppies, cauterize the holes, and then you spend 2 weeks coughing and shedding your burned and blackened second skin. It's an experience. 10/10 highly recommend if you get the chance

There's many different paths in the environmental world these days and you can get a degree in something totally different and still make your way there. If Science isn't your thing you can be the comms person or the finance person for an environmental organization. Or if you want to study the environment specifically, figure out if you lean towards field biology, or chemistry, or geography, etc. Or if you want to learn about it all but don't want to be in the field or lab every day, then also take policy classes, law classes, research classes etc. I've found that provided you keep moving forward and learning, you will end up where you need to be eventually. And if you hate your life and something feels wrong, don't be afraid to change course until it fits. Personally, my job involves policies for protecting sources of drinking water. I did a BSc in Environmental Science and took a lot of water related courses. In my last year I took a lot of environmental law and policy. I looked for related summer jobs and part time jobs along the way. Then did a masters in sustainability. And now I've been just working for about 2 yrs. (I'm 🇨🇦, but shouldn't make too much difference)
