My memories of Patonga go back to about 1955. In those days big flathead were caught off the point of Dark Corner, which is the eastern end of Patonga Beach where there are a few shacks. (14:46) My family had one of them, but sadly gone now. Here's a drone video I put together a couple of years ago, reminiscing about what Patonga once was. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmGtaICXo7d-aMk

It’s a very beautiful place mate. We love it there and try to get down as much as we can

Fishing Patonga in the 1960s you were always guaranteed a good feed of flathead every outing. Also there were plentiful catches of Yellow tail caught from the wharf. Australia’s population back then was just over 10 million so not so many fishing in those days.

What time of day and what tide

We fished all day starting about 8am through to 5pm, we noticed a negative switch once the tide went out.

Nice location. Gum boots would be useful when beach fishing…or the old method; bare feet. 👢👢🦶🦶👍🏻🙏🦘

Can't go wrong bare feet mate 🤣 I was wearing Merrel Hikers with Gortex Waterproofing Tech. Full waterproof to the top haha 😄👌
