I actually watched The Rage: Carrie 2 last night. I really enjoyed it. Having her being fathered by Carrie’s dad was a good way to tenuously link the two stories. Worth a watch.

As far as sequels go, it wasn't bad. The link being the dad was interesting.

The original is one of my favorites of all time because I saw it under special circumstances. I was at the University of Illinois, and it was sneak previewed while "Obsession" was still playing down the street. The students' felt Brian De Palma has wussed out after "Sisters" and were ready to hate this film. When the prom scene started, they were beginning to change their minds. But come the shock ending, every single one of them jumped at least 3 feet out of their seat, then gave the film a standing ovation.

It was not King's first published work, it was his first published novel. He had had several short stories already published before "Carrie".

I love the gym teacher in both the original and the made for tv The made for tv had more anger toward the mean girls The original had the best protective/nurturing relationship with carrie Plus she smacked the bully in only a way an old school teacher can I think it was the made for tv one where she protected the body of tommy In the 2013 movie she protected the gym teacher and had the most brutal of freakouts In the original, the reaction to stopping her mother was the best. I love all 3 for different reasons

Ive had the pleasure of helping my friend out with his business, On Set Cinema, and we showed Carrie ,The Rage ,at the party house. And we showed the original Carrie in the gym used for all of the movie except the actual prom scene, and William Katt joined us. Being a SUPER Carrie fan, this was a dream come true for me.

I'm a HUGE Carrie fan from the book to the movies, and what I like about all 3 films is that they're all different in some way like you said and you can find the pros and cons of each. 1976 is what most of us grew up with, so it's forever a classic. Wasn't a fan of the fire hose doing all the work and.I was disappointed that there was no town destruction scene. But the movie was made around the same time as the book so that was nice. The 2002 version I really like as well, the biggest reason is that they absolutely had an amazing cast full of Scream Queens. They played their parts really well, especially Katherine who we all know from Ginger Snaps and I was glad she had a fairly big role. The biggest downfall of 2002 is of course it being a cheap budget TV movie with horrible special effects. Had it been a theatrical big budget movie, it could have possibly been more favored than 1976. Did not like that Carrie was in a trance during the prom massacre and wasn't aware of what was going on. I was okay with the ending being different, but unfortunately with the low budget and bad effects, it was hard to fully like. 2013 had the best prom massacre, imo. I liked that Carrie went full rage and was well aware of what she was doing. She was beyond livid and wanted to unalive as many people as she could. Unfortunately, the Mean Girls were basically background characters with not much screen time, so their death scenes didn't really have much effect, unlike 2002's Mean Girls. There were rumors that a new Carrie TV show was in development. Not sure where it's currently going. Honestly, I'm all for new Carrie adaptations and I think a Carrie series would work well with developing the story and characters, so I say bring it on.

The original is my favorite. Sissy Spacek received her first Oscar nomination for a horror film. The sequel wasn't that terrible. I liked how they linked Rachel as being the half sister of Carrie and she inherited telekinesis.

Wasnt that Friday the 13 part 7?😂
@thecunninlynguistАй бұрын
@@bo2720 yeah, it was supposed to be Carrie but they couldn't get the rights, so it's just a generic girl with telekinesis
There's two things I really liked about the latest remake: the way Chloe Grace Moretz looks like she's enjoying her kills, even looking kind of orgasming. And Julianne Moore, she does play a mother, who has some kind of relationship with her daughter, and she conveys tragedy in her performance. She's not the crazy, comical zealot of the first one, which is, I agree, the best.

And just think, all of Stephen King's stories are set in the same universe. So, Carrie, Firestarter, Children of the Corn, It. Perhaps Carrie's and Rachel's dad was part of the experiment from Firestarter? They bred children with powers, as shown in the Firestarter sequel. Another thing, I think Bunny from the Grav3yardgirl and Banana Peppers channels looks a lot like Sissy Spacek, especially with her hair straight and down!

One of the only disappointing scenes in the De Palmer original was the Chris and Billy death scene, I mean come on those two got off easy considering what they did and i must agree with you that the satisfaction from the Chris and Billy death in the 2013 remake was way more what i think we all wanted.....P.S I know this is being a bit pedantic but you stated that Carrie was Kings first 'Published' work which is incorrect if you include his many stories that were published in magazines throughout the early 70's - of course Carrie is his first novel published
@bruceflournoy7411Ай бұрын
Death of the prom mockers in 2013 was better death of Billy and Sue in original was best in its quick merciless mere annoyance disposal manner...never thought Gym teacher deserved to die so glad 2013 version sparred her

I hate how this story and movie gets referred to as a horror... its more like a tragedy. Carrie was the victim in every aspect of her life and everyone got exactly what they deserved. The fact she dies at the end is awful, really sad ending for her with no victory Definitely not a horror. If anything it's a revenge story but without the win for the hero of the story. Carrie embodies every bullied, abused kids inner most desire to take down their abusers. Hero not villain
