Blackadder the Third, one of my favourite British comedies and certainly in my top five, if not less than five! Funny, historically accurate (well mostly) and I still use some of the phrases from it including “Mrs Miggins Pie Shop” and “As dead as that squirrel” as said by Miranda Richardson. “What squirrel?” asks Blackadder, then she shoots twice into the tree and you hear a loud squeak as a squirrel falls to the ground and she replies “That squirrel”. Fantastic writing, directing and comedy acting.

@@d.e.b.b5788 No, I'm more amazed that you think this comment is serious and not a joke.

@@hannah-ti6qo In 2016, we saw just what happens, when we assume that people are joking, but they are not. We wound up with a megalomaniac for president. Look through the comment sections, especially of the short subjects, and see how many people post idiotic things, and then argue about them; they are absolutely serious about their crazy comments. That's why I wrote what I did.

One of the very many high points of ‘Blackadder the Third’, this scene. The introduction of Hugh Laurie to the Blackadderverse was a masterstroke. Stephen Fry had already been a solid part of the cast in ‘Blackadder II’ as Lord Melchett, and although Laurie’s arrival on the scene as the dastardly Prince Ludwig was only in the final episode, it was a great introduction. His subsequent key role as Thicky Prince George swiftly became a crucial element, a delightfully hilarious fall-guy counterpoint to Atkinson’s scheming, sarcastic, world-weary butler. Separately, Fry & Laurie themselves went on to become nigh on untouchable as a comedy duo during the first half of the 90s.

I'd have to compare it with Arthur Wellesley dressing Sir Henry Simmerson down in Sharpe's Eagle for losing the regimental colours, and trying to pin the blame on a dead man.

I sometimes forget what a versatile actor Fry is. Amazing.

Between "A bit of Fry and Laurie" and "Blackadder", Stephen Fry really developed a taste for punching Hugh Laurie square in the face. No wonder he went on to be dependent on opioids...
