Same, and exactly, the delivery makes it funny in itself. Just like I didn't get the Geraldo opening Al Capone's vault thing at first either
@thohangst7 жыл бұрын
For the youngsters: The reference is to the movie Treasure of the Sierra Madre. The line "we don't need no stinking badges" was never uttered. Rather, "We don't need no badges. We don't need to show you no stinking badges!" It was really quite funny how the gangster was so taken aback by a request to show his badge (he was posing as a lawman). See the movie.
@Andvare6 жыл бұрын
But in the Blazing Saddles movie, they do say "we don't need no stinking badges", which was, of course, a reference to Treasure of the Sierra Madre. So you could see this as a reference to a reference ;)

Mel Brooks gave it his spin in his 1974 film Blazing Saddles. I heard it uttered by a journalist recently when talking about the Supreme Court. It is a part of our lexicon, even if we don’t know the origin. From the 1927 novel Treasure of the Sierra Madre.
