The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

Check out Manta Sleep at tinyurl.com/ycee6c3s and make sure to use code JONNYARNETT for 10% off your order! How would MJ do in the NBA today?? Also, is there any era we should be “done with”? Wanted to elaborate with some thoughts that were not included in the video. When former players say “we tried to force Jordan left” because he was “weaker” with his left hand, that’s just smart basketball that applies to everyone. Every player has some “weakness”, relative to the rest of their game. Guys like Shaq and LeBron James are not great free throw shooters, so people would try to make them “earn” their points at the free throw line, rather than get an easy dunk. Shane Battier used to talk about how he’d “give Kobe space” to shoot long 2 pointers, because it was the lowest percentage shot, and it seemed better than him hitting a 3 or getting to the rim. That doesn’t mean the guys SUCK at it, or can’t do it, but it seems ideal compared to the alternative. Don’t let Shaq get too deep, don’t let LeBron get to the rim, don’t let Kobe get to his spots, and don’t let Jordan go to his right… it’s just simple Basketball, people.

That's the point. You can do it for both. That is the point of this becoming a trend. It's to show the hypocrisy in what oldheads say about today's basketball and especially towards LeBron James(conversation involving gen z revolves around LeBron vs. MJ and how good is wemby). They say xyz about a player today based on his weaknesses and then say he wouldn't have been able to handle the 90s. Like, "LeBron couldn't handle the 90s because he sucks at freet throws, and the 90s was an inside the perimeter more physical game. MJ would never air ball free throws. " Queue the MJ would never vs. LeBron would never jokes. You misunderstand the trend and are taking it too seriously and proving the point at hand. Everything you described is exactly what those under 30 have been telling old heads. "I saw MJ in my day. He's my GOAT(sure) and would average 45 today, " "Basketball today is garbage. The 90s was better. My day was better. " Also, in modern basketball, "having a left is hand" is TYPICALLY referred to in regards to dribbling not finishing. We don't say Westbrook or LeBron has no left hand because they don't really dunk with their left. It's not like he was trash with his left but it wasn't something he was that proficient with. That's naturally for right handed players.

i have watch basketball for 5 decades. To me the best were: 1-90s 2-00s 3-80s 4-20s 5-10s the worst ERA.. I dont say that 50s was the worse ever because rules were so hard and players didnt have the equipment and the facilities that players have now...traveling 8 hours by bus to play a game than go back to another city with CONVERSE shoes and without doctors is amazing. 70s was a CAOS but since i didnt see it i dont talk about it...because it was indeed a caos and hard to talk without context...

Jordan would average at least 45 against these tiktokers and scrubs. He was already the best player of the toughest era. Nowadays there is no defense, correlates to higher scoring which we're seeing right now. If Jokic and Doncic are destroying the league like this, then the GOAT could do whatever he wanted to an even bigger extent than what he's already accomplished.

@@ThoseRedPillGuys One of the most BS comments I've seen. Not only you first point was (like always when debunk something) that it was "ironic" or a social experiment but in the end you give creidt to the main topic so is contradictory. The thing wasn't ironic since there were people that put graphics and count dribbles and stuff, so... And that NBA today has weak defense is not hyperbolic. THat's why Luke in Europe was a solid 16ppp and in the NBA he is averagin a 35ppp triple double. That's why players that started in the late 00's and some of them had injuries are scoring MORE than in their primes. That's why in international competition Team USA did really bad. I know young people wants to be part of greatness, and that's good. But the thing is that you have to be realistic with the product today and no need to diminish something to flash yours. Myself. A 00's guy admit without a doubt that the average player today shoots way better than the average player in the past. As well, I see that the fundamentals in the past were way better. Ad I also thing most of the superstars could have do really good in any era. But this topic is horrendous. And in the 00`s i don't remember anybody saying players of the past were bad players or plumbers. P.S. Jordan could drive left perfectly fine 😂

they are drastically better though, while offense has evolved imensley defense just kinda remained on the same level, and with more complete players nowadays then ever in terms of offensive ability, defense is way harder to play thats why it looks weaker. Jokic and Embiid the probably 2 best players right now can give you a basket from anywhere on the court, big men like shaq, hakeem, wilt, etc where never asked to do that, the spaceing is sooo much better nowadays than it used to be just rewatch 90s footage and look at how often players are left open on the 3pt line or slightley further out.

I have 45+ years with an NBA obsession and finally, I have a knowledgeable and fun companion who understands this great sport of NBA basketball with the nuance and context not found in many places or media resources. On this channel, every take is thought out and usually spot on, and even on the rare occasions when I disagree, I can appreciate the research and the observations being made. You hit the nail in the head, Jonny. It's true not just in basketball, but life in general, it seemes that we have somehow evolved into this mentality that in order to validate one's beliefs or arguments, I must focus more on invalidating your beliefs and arguments. Why is that? Why are basketball fans trying to belittle the old eras in order to boost in the current one? And it goes both ways. I mean, I think we can be civilised and open minded enough to have a debate without having to resort to belittling the other side.

I know for fact Jordan went left because my college coach HoF, NBA coach-recruiter from that time with the Nets told me one of things that made Jordan so tough was his ability to explode left 2-4 dribbles, he also said that he was more explosive going left, and watching the game. Jordan is probably the only player that I can think of that had no weaknesses and was fundamentally sound. I don’t count three point shooting because that wasn’t the style of play back then so it’s is irrelevant. Today’s players are skilled in terms of shooting the 3, maybe a fancier handle, but situational recognition, fundamentals, and shot selection not so much. Just my opinion.
